Ms. D was extremely patient and thorough with me. And her warm demeanor helped me calm my nerves and loosen up. I appreciate all the valuable insight and direction she gave me.

I had such an amazing experience training with Detrece! She always has such sweet positive energy. I was so happy that with me being more of an advanced singer she was able to teach me about my voice and tips that I never knew! I only had 5 lessons and still had a vocal breakthrough where she helped me realize my range is wider than I thought. She gave me more confidence and is always seeking to share opportunities with me. I’m so grateful to her!!

I provide training in a series of techniques proven to increase test scores, but I also tune my lessons, pacing, and teaching style to the student's specific needs. Different strategies work for different students. I find it essential to quickly identify challenge areas--including stamina, speed, subject-specific content, and question analysis--and then lay out a weekly plan to tackle those challenges leading up to test date. Acing the ACT in particular is about learning the ropes and playing the game. I aim for my sessions to be enjoyable for the student, as well as demanding. My goal is to build confidence and familiarity as much as it is to build mastery.

I'm a professional Spanish and English tutor with over 10 years of experience teaching at the high school, middle school, and college levels. I hold a masters degree from Harvard University, a Bachelors degree in Spanish language and Political Science, and a teaching certificate from the Fulbri

A knowledgeable and patient educator, Jesse has found a teaching style that perfectly balances challenge and inspiration. As a doctoral candidate in the sciences, it is important for me to assert my knowledge of a topic while capturing the attention of the reader. Jesse has taught me to transform bare facts and ideas into structured, sophisticated passages. He has played an active role in building my self-confidence and has helped me find an authentic writing voice to more clearly and elegantly express my thoughts. I am grateful to have his guidance and am eager to vouch for his excellence as a tutor.
Laura S.
I am so lucky that I found Jesse! He is thoughtful, thorough, patient, and kind, and his lessons always felt like they were tailored specifically to me and my needs. Even his teaching materials were personalized to include my name and phrases that only I would need to use (i.e. I'm an actress and piano teacher, and I've been living and working in NYC for over ten years). Highly recommended!

Biology used to make no sense to me at all. I struggled because I never understood how biology related to me. All I wanted to know was "what's on my next pizza?" (Yes, that was my actual interest, haha) I communicate what I needed when I was learning it. I help people with science all the time so when it comes to helping another person I have what it takes to really make sense of this difficult material to you, but most importantly, in a way that makes sense to you. I got you!

About Aaron

Do you want a future doctor to be teaching you cell biology? I would. I'm going to go to medical school to become a cardiologist, as soon as I'm done with some requirements. Pick me and we'll get you makin' A's in no time! I will help you actually understand the material, not memorize!
