Ms. D was extremely patient and thorough with me. And her warm demeanor helped me calm my nerves and loosen up. I appreciate all the valuable insight and direction she gave me.

I had such an amazing experience training with Detrece! She always has such sweet positive energy. I was so happy that with me being more of an advanced singer she was able to teach me about my voice and tips that I never knew! I only had 5 lessons and still had a vocal breakthrough where she helped me realize my range is wider than I thought. She gave me more confidence and is always seeking to share opportunities with me. I’m so grateful to her!!

I am a professional opera singer, active performer, and avid teacher of voice. My teaching focuses on exercises that strengthen your voice so you can sing (and speak!) clearly, beautifully, and resonantly. These exercises will help reduce fatigue, raspiness, hoarseness, and strain in your speaking voice. Through our work together, you can expect to build confidence in your speaking voice and to more freely express yourself. I hope to hear you soon!

About Joshua

I am a professional opera singer actively performing across the country. I graduated from Columbia University cum laude with a B.A. in Sustainable Development, and then focused my music studies at Manhattan School of Music, where I received the President's Award and graduated with a M.M. in Voice.

Josh is a wonderful voice teacher who happens to also be an amazing human being. I feel comfortable enough to take risks and grow in my voice every time we have a lesson together. He has truly helped me expand as an artist and learn new information about singing!
Leya
Josh is such an amazing and caring teacher! Singing can be a vulnerable thing, especially when you are working on parts of your voice that need improvement and might not currently sound the best. However, Josh really made me feel comfortable when we were working on those parts of my voice and I could definitely see improvement even within the span of an hour! He is very knowledgeable when it comes to all the exercises that help you bring your sound forward, sing without tension and control your breathing. His enthusiasm for teaching is incredible and I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants try classical singing!!
Anthony
An awesome teacher that makes me feel self assured and excited to work on the next level of singing! Very positive but also constructive, encouraging me to grow. Incredibly experienced performer as well

"I am in awe that such a talented, flexible and organized teacher is available to work with my 11yo daughter. Bill has extensive professional experience in acting and auditions. He is very organized with helpful homework sent out in advance of class.

My child is just getting into acting but I strongly believe his coaching on voice will help her for many years. In fact I’m tempted to sign up more family members for Bill’s instruction."

"Tamika is a great teacher. It was easy working with her because she is passionate, honest, reliable, relatable and fun. She encouraged me to audition for the stage play "Why Does It Hurt So Bad?" and I made it in. She continued to work with me as an Artist Development teacher in the play. She really helped me as an actor and teaching me to take on the character I was portraying. It was amazing seeing myself grow as an actor and getting better during the whole process. I was able to put on a good performance because of her guidance and tutelage. I definitely recommend her."
