I have been incorporating theory into the lessons for the 25 plus years I've been teaching. It's an integral part of learning each piece and additional books can be used to reinforce new concepts if needed.

About Susan

I was a piano major at UNI and received a B.A. in English with a minor in music. I taught music for several years in Iowa and Pennsylvania. I have an M.A. in Reading, which has been invaluable in analyzing learning styles and teaching to each student's strengths. I have been teaching piano for over

As every student is unique my teaching style really depends on the student! Some want to learn for fun, others are studying for exams or college. As a result its really important for me to tailor my lessons towards each student and what they would like to work on. For some that could mean working on vocal technique, others working on music and repertoire. I’m adept at adapting to each student’s individual talents and vocal needs and therefore its important that for that each student progresses at a pace that they are comfortable with.

About Biraj

Picasso said: "learn the rules, then break them." I can help you do both. I have a solid grasp of scale/chord theory and jazz improvisation and teach four mallet technique for all mallet instruments.

About Mike

Learning to play an instrument is a mixture of a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work. My strength is finding what will inspire my students to WANT to put in those difficult hours of practice, and then showing them how to apply what they have learned in a creative way, so that they experience the fu

Amazing, patient really informative instructor and just a great guy. Highly recommend.

Mike was really the best instructor I could have asked for. Knowledgeable, patient, and best of all, chill when he needed to be. I was just picking up the drums for a high school band I was in at the time, and he was more than willing to help me learn whatever dumb song me or my band had decided sounded cool at the time. At the same time, he showed me a lot of really excellent practice techniques, directed me to some solid literature for different rhythms to work on, and would sit with me through a whole hour of my relentless mistakes like it was nothing. More than a good instructor, he's a really cool guy! He never missed a beat!

I have been playing the piano for many years and my passion grows stronger each and every day! I started my classical training 15 years ago and have written hundreds of songs on piano and played in many ensembles. I graduated from Drexel University with a degree in recording arts and music production, which has given me the technical skills I need to write, record, and produce my own music. When my students master a piece, some of them like for me to record them playing it and then edit it to make it sound like a professional recording! It can serve as a great confidence booster and a fun keepsake to look back on when the song eventually falls out of their muscle memory. Whether you're a beginner interested in learning the fundamentals, a player looking to improve your chops, or you just want to learn how to play Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved," I can help you define your goals and work towards them through good practice and good habits! I also offer private lessons on ...

"I'm a student at ASU's School of Music and wanted to get extra help with singing, since it is not my primary instrument. I've been studying music for 14 years playing the piano, violin, and guitar. Marty is very knowledgeable and has helped me so much with not only my voice, but I've also been able to use what she's taught me to help me with my other instruments and classes. She has helped me in areas none of my other teachers have really touched, such as improvisation and accompaniment, and she explains things very thoroughly and with good examples. She is very dedicated and cares deeply about her students. I highly recommend Marty!"

"I wasn't sure I could find a piano instructor that would help me with my busy schedule, but never hurts to ask. I am so glad that I did, because Andrew is amazing! He helped me with my schedule issues and has really inspired my 7 year old boy to really perform his best! Matthew has been been taking lessons for over a year now. He can't wait to see Andrew each week! Matthew has so much fun learning, that his little brother, Alex gets in on the action too. This has been the best experience for me and my two boys, learning how to play the piano! He brings the excitement and joy of learning!"
