I combine the styles of music that you prefer with some kind of method book for reading and theory. No purchasing of music is required. Normal lessons start with the previously assigned material, determining what we need to work on, new material, and ending with things to do at home.

Hi! I'm Sean. I am an active freelance composer, guitarist, and teacher in Baltimore City. I have a degree from Peabody in Music Composition and I am a firmly established teacher of guitar, violin, piano, and rock instruments in the city. Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".

I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.

About Jon

I'm a professional performer, educator, and recording artist. I received my Masters in Music from New Mexico State University, and my BA and BME from the College of Wooster in Ohio. Students can expect to improve their technique and performing repertoire within a matter of weeks. We will collabo

Throughout my classes with Alexandra -- she was kind, insightful, and encouraging. Before my lessons I had no formal training in music, sight-reading, or piano performance. I took the lessons to prepare myself for higher music education at Salem State University, and after the lessons I was able to pass my audition and continue on with the necessary knowledge to grow. Her way of teaching is free of pretentiousness and apathy. She is really an excellent instructor.

"Livv is an amazing and a gifted teacher. She’s very knowledgeable, but she’s completely humble. Her easy-going personality makes learning fun and enjoyable. She’s funny and down to earth. Learning a new task can sometimes be very frustrating, but she’s incredibly patient and supportive. She allowed me to learn at a pace that I’m most comfortable with. She adapted to my learning style and tailored the lessons to my desired goals. First of all, I wanted to be able to play the ukulele and secondly, I wanted to be able to play some of my favorite songs on the ukulele. She taught me how to play. She wrote the tabs for the songs I requested. We went over those songs together and my goals were met. In addition to reaching my goals, I’ve learned and reached other objectives along the way. She taught me how to read music in general, how to read chord diagrams, how to read tabs, how to strum and she gave me tips on different ways to play the barre chords. I never thought that I could ever play the dreaded barre chords, but with her guidance and patience, I was able to do that. She communicated with me every step of the way about my progress and what’s on the horizon for the coming week. She’s a well-rounded teacher and she gets my highest recommendation. Livv, thank you for your insights and encouragement throughout my journey."
