I believe that every student has his/her own need because we are all unique as human beings, every one of us has their stronger and weaker skills and my job as a teacher is to find the best tool to pass to the given student.

I am strict but fun, whichever amount the student needs more.

I use the Suzuki books because the songs (and later pieces) in are very good, popular, fun, and evenly progressive.

Achievements depend also on the student and the amount of practicing done at home. I as a teacher can only do that much in passing my knowledge and spur the student own. Practicing at home is very, very important.

About Hrant

Hrant's interests range from the solo cello repertoire to chamber music, teaching, and orchestral playing. As a teacher he has been a faculty member at Yale School of Music, 92nd Y, Summertrios Music Festival, and has held master classes at Yale and the William Blount-Slawson Competition. He has re

Although I mainly sing now, I was originally a violinist and played all through college in professional orchestras, quartets and even as a soloist.

As a professional Music Educator, I have run String Programs in various International Schools among many other instrumental ensembles. I've conducted student orchestras & built many programs from scratch. Please see the links in my profile of the beginner orchestras as well as my playing!

Although I do not play professionally anymore, I still play very well, and am a perfect teacher for a beginner and intermediate student. I know how to get students started quickly and with confidence. Choose me to jump start yourself or your child.

I think my biggest strength as a strings teacher is helping this tedious time as a beginning violinist be fun and useful. My students really enjoy their lessons. I also have a lot of experience online and anticipate all of the normal issues (tuning, instrument care, etc;)

I've trained a lot of ...

I am a college student going into my first year as a music major and Mary has been extremely helpful! I started voice lessons coming from a choral background and Mary was able to help me better understand the qualities of my voice and helped me make my technique more consistent. She has also recommended many great arias and pieces for me to work on to expand my repertoire. Overall, I feel much more prepared for college and confident as a vocalist due to these lessons!

Mary is a fantastic teacher for advanced students! She has a scholarly approach to pedagogy informed by her years of training, international performance experience, and encyclopedic knowledge of music and musicians. I already had 25 years of experience singing classical music before starting lessons with Mary, and she is helping me polish my technique and introducing me to new and challenging material. If you’re trying to find a great teacher for advanced vocal music, you should take lessons with Mary.
Serena
Mary was exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for. I’m an advanced mezzo soprano with a strong voice. Mary was able to give me some very precise exercises and instruction to open my voice even more and fine tune my pitch. Other teachers have given me more generic instruction, but I felt that Mary gave me more direct feedback and exercises for my voice. If you’re serious about your voice, Mary is a great teacher.

"I am a prominent professional musician in Portland and retired public school music teacher, and have had the opportunity to observe Corey teach on several occasions. Having evaluated several teachers during my career, I can honestly say that Corey is among the finest teachers of elementary school students I have EVER seen. Corey has a rare talent with children, and he teaches music with an easy going style and manner that brings out the best in all of his students--both young and old. Corey is likeable, professional, and easy to work with. I am pleased to give him my highest recommendations with no reservations."

"Jessica is a very good and kind instructor. Perfect for my 12-year-old who has a sensitive heart when being corrected by others. She is patient and takes the time to come up with creative solutions when something isn't working as it should. As a parent, I appreciate the detailed notes she sends me letting me what happened in the lesson and what she'd like done during practice time. She also provides links to additional instruction videos if she feels like her explanation isn't making sense. I feel like she really goes beyond and wants to help them learn, not just assign practice pieces. Thanks, Jessica! - so glad we found you!"

He managed to keep even the introductory lessons (parts of the instrument, posture, etc.) engaging and now that she is actually making music it is even better. Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
