I have been teaching Irish fiddle style for 15 years. I will usually start the student in either a basic fiddle book or Suzuki to learn how to do proper bowing, positioning and technique. The student will be able to read notes. If desired, I will also teach the more advanced about chord progression through the songs. I do know the appalachian style also but it is asked for less frequently.

About Chris

I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. Ms Chris was great my daughter really enjoyed her first lesson. Ms Chris was easy to work with and made my daughter comfortable that she felt free to ask questions and make mistakes without worry. My daughter is looking forward to the next lesson.

If you’re looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable and patient strings teacher, you will love Mrs. Heins. Both of my sons have been taking lessons from Mrs. Heins for several years (one for viola and one for cello). They have learned so much under her instruction, such as earning All-County and All-State honors. They also practice their live performance skills twice a year during informal musical concerts. Mrs. Heins also offers participation in the Royal Conservatory Music Development program, which can earn your child credit for college. She is a gem and should you choose her, you won’t be disappointed.

About Charles

Outside of teaching percussion and musical performances I have worked in special education for over 15 years. My life of music started knee high at the age of 4 playing drums and piano. At the age of 15 I gave my first musical performance, from that stage on I knew my talent had found a home.

My son’s first lesson went really well! Mr. Charles was really accommodating - as we were running late and he patiently waited and completed our full first session. My son is already looking to his next lesson.

Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%.

I have had ten years of piano lessons prior to meeting Jenna, but she has given me tools to continue improving on my own! She is incredible at assessing where a student is and taking them to their own next level whether that be reading music, to different chording rhythms and styles, to directing a band. I am learning so much with each session with Jenna. Highly recommend!

Are you inspired by John Williams, Hanz Zimmer, or Harry Gregson-Williams? Do you want to write music for video games or movies? Do you just want to learn a little bit about music theory so you can take your songwriting to the next level?

Over the last few years I have been composing for a few different mediums and we can talk about melody, motifs, cadences and how to wrap everything up and add emotion. I primarily compose on a piano/keyboard and we can learn and discover new melodies together!

About Brandon

I am a professional Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute player. I have been composing my own music for video games and short films, and working as a mixing engineer for a couple years now, just really exploring many different aspects of music. Brandon is fantastic. I don't know that he's ever given me a word of bad advice, and has been a HUGE help in getting my career as a producer and narrator off the ground. He's incredibly knowledgeable and skillful, and my experiences in both hiring him and learning from him have been absolutely fantastic. I would heartily recommend him!

I have been playing guitar for 4 years now and I would love the opportunity to teach others the skill. I have a guitar already but if you want to use yours that is fine too. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I hope to get people just as excited about it as I am.

About Kyra

I have been playing guitar for 4 years. I try to listen to all types of music so I can be a more versatile teacher. I enjoy helping people do hands-on things, and I try to use different styles because I believe everyone is different.

"Margo has been a GEM! I have tried vocal lessons in the past with 1 instructor and didn't stay longer than an month. I absolutely LOVE working with Margo. From the first lesson she brought me OUT of my comfort zone which was needed because where I was, was all wrong. She is teaching me how to use my voice, how to shape my face how to escape the issues I deal with for my allergies and still be able to use my voice and sing. These beginning lessons I have been having with her have been extremely valuable and I will be here to stay. Her style, approach and experience are definitely worth every bit that you will spend and more."

"Mr. Malchik is simply an outstanding, excellent teacher. Not only is he knowledgeable in music performance and theory, he is also joyful, enthusiastic and patient with my child. The many things my child has learned include, but are not limited to, how to read treble and bass clef, proper sitting and body posture, left and right hand finger techniques for scales and arpeggios, and how to play chords. Along with this training, he also encourages my child to have creative freedom - to enjoy music by playing songs she has either composed herself or heard outside of lessons."
