What I enjoy most about the piano is=

The opportunity to show my students what sounds and ideas they can create from the piano; sounds that are uniquely their own; sounds that have meaning and purpose and are full of their own emotions. That is the most rewarding part of teaching.

Also= As a musician who takes great care of his body with a wide range of physical activities and has studied the human body thoroughly, I'm very adamant that piano playing requires tremendous physical dexterity and bodily control, not just knowledge of the music alone.

Point= My overall approach to piano lessons simply put is: How do we form the closest bond between "Us" and the "Instrument"?

So how do we achieve this.

I do this by training the student's hands & body to move in the way they were designed by nature to move.

I fully understand music theory, chords, scales, and rhythm and I will teach you everything I know about them. Point= So does every cookie-cutter piano teacher.

Building a positive learning environment is at the very core of my teaching philosophy. The lesson and the practice room are the times to make mistakes and learn how to reach your fullest potential! I offer well-rounded lessons, focusing on basic music theory, technique, expressive playing, and developing an understanding of why we make mistakes while practicing. My lessons will can cover everything from the very basics to orchestral excerpts/audition preparation. Let’s get started! I can’t wait to learn with you!

Emily is a patient, thoughtful, considerate, and empathetic teacher.

I enjoyed our time together, practicing and learning a difficult and abstract instrument/subject was fun and engaging.

Highly recommend Emily to anyone willing to learn the flute! Thanks for everything Emily!
Lauren
Emily is quite possibly the best teacher I've had. She is generous with her time while teaching. Emily is also very patient when working with me on difficult passages of music. She is creative at problem solving issues with my playing and has been very helpful in getting my playing to the next level. Anyone who wants to learn the flute, whether it's to improve their classical playing, or because they were inspired to learn because of the recent popularity of Lizzo, they should contact Emily for all flute needs!

Dr. Kostritsa has been a wonderful teacher for my daughters. They have made excellent progress with him over the last two years. His flexibility in allowing my older daughter to select some of her own music really helped with motivation. It's also inspiring that he composes and performs his own music as well.

Both of my children took piano lessons with Dr. Alex. He is a patient instructor who puts the needs of his students first. I like his demeanor with the kids as well. Dr. Alex is always in high demand, yet he is flexible and easy to work with.

My son has been taking lessons with Alex for over five years. They have developed a fabulous rapport and mutual respect. Alex challenges my son and helps to further his skill level and technique. He provides support and suggestions when choosing new pieces to play. Alex is flexible with regards to accommodating schedule changes and make up lessons. We couldn’t be more impressed with Alex as a piano teacher and mentor for our son and we are thankful that he shares his time and talents with young piano students.

I teach beginning and intermediate piano for adults and children. I will teach you to read music and understand the theory that goes behind it. Like teaching voice I start with a classical foundation then build from there, along with scales, arpeggios, chords/structure, etc. Then from there we dive into whatever music you wish to play. Whether you want to work through books like Faber's Piano Adventures, or Alfred's Adult technique books or you just want to learn to play your favorite songs, I will help you navigate how to play!

Fantastic! Scott really can customize exercises and your training to your goals. I was worried I would be doing opera or classical focused training, but he is helping me towards the pop and modern sound I am going for! Recommend 10/10 times!

Scott Mulligan is the best acting coach I could hope for. He took a very special interest in me and my talent. And he put his own reputation on the line in order to recommend me to a talent agency, and I got it! I am now working as a professional actor and I couldn’t have done it without Scott Mulligan.

"Caleb has been my son’s trumpet instructor for almost 6 months now. He has a keen ability to get across everything needed for a highly effective online lesson. I cannot tell you what a HUGE convenience it's been for us to have these expert lessons in the comfort and convenience of our home. I would have to drive 45 minutes over a mountain pass to get to the nearest qualified instructor. In the middle of snowstorms, and even with my son in p.j.'s, we can have our lesson right here at home. In an ordinary lesson environment a parent usually is expected to leave the room. With Caleb, I can be nearby while my son receives his lesson. This is helpful for me to reinforce points that Caleb made during his lesson with my son when he is practicing during the week. Currently he's working with my son on his honor jazz band audition, as well as a classical oratorio piece that he'll be playing on tour in Europe with our local community orchestra. Caleb is qualified to teach any style of music. He’s super friendly but never loses his honesty with the student. We often have special requests for each lesson and Caleb is able to tailor each lesson to work on the new pieces and still fit in valuable instruction with scales and solid technique. Not only is Caleb a great teacher, but he is on many professional recordings, and is a regularly-working professional musician in Chicago. My son is very lucky to have him as an instructor. We're very impressed with Caleb and know you will be too!"

"“Faye W. has been a “diamond among the rough” find! She is a wonderful, flexible, energetic, patient and fun piano teacher!!! I played the piano when I was younger but did NOT want to teach my own child. I made the right decision as Faye makes learning music FUN and engaging. She encourages her students to play music that they actually like and enjoy, as opposed to boring them to death with only strict technique and theory practices. My daughter looks forward to her lessons and I’ve even begun playing again after taking years off. Faye has been a delight and an inspiration to our entire family. We are all enjoying the piano again for the first time in years! I searched high and low and couldn’t find another instructor that was as affordable, flexible, easy going, and patient as Faye. Her gift of perfect pitch and ability to play by ear amaze me personally as I can only read music. Faye is well trained and a talented musician. You will not be disappointed!”

"My first lesson with Cyndi was a complete giant step towards my goal. She explains things well and we hit it off right away. We got right to work on the good technique that I had never had. She pushed me to the limit and more, which is what I asked her to do.
Aside from doing the all-important breathing and scale work I learned the secret of an effective vibrato. She explained it in a very simple way. For me it was a revelation to think of it like this; an immediate breakthrough for me!
I was sent home with some breathing exercises and scale work as well as how to effectively sing the song I had brought along to work on with her.

Cyndi has a beautiful soul and is a very effective and positive teacher.

Thank's Cyndi! See you next week."
