I'm a casual, easy-going, caring person, and I enjoy establishing a unique working relationship with each student.
I have been teaching flute for about twenty years.
In teaching I employ a personal, individual, flexible approach, to give my students each what benefits him/her the most. I emphasize proper technique, beauty of tone, musical interpretation, and enjoyment. Music theory is intertwined with the instruction. And we play lots of duets!
I also play the piano, thus sometimes accompany my flute students.

Angelina Yuan-Fen Ho, a native of Hsinchu, Taiwan, began playing the flute at ten. In 2010, she received her B.A. in music from UC Berkeley, where she studied with Isabelle Chapuis, Julie McKenzie, and Maria Tamburrino. As an M.M. candidate in Flute Performance at the University of Maryland, she was a student of William Montgomery from 2010 to late 2012. Before she could complete the degree, significant health issues arose that prevented Yuan-Fen from continuing her studies and necessitated a hiatus from playing the flute. In 2015, Yuan-Fen reached sufficient recovery and decided to play the flute again. She had been studying with Emily Skala since late 2015. Since Fall 2018, Yuan-Fen has been pursuing her M.M. degree at the San Francisco Conservatory as a student of Timothy Day.

I started playing the flute at a young age and I have since developed a passion for music. The flute is such a unique instrument, yet it looks so simple. I believe that the best way to learn is by making it something you enjoy. This entails having fun and understanding that the path to success comes with both highs and lows.
About Trishani
I have been playing the flute for 10 years and have learned so many new things about music and from the relationships I've made with people. My daughter needs a patient and consistent type of teacher, and after a couple of months, Tony and Natalia were working together quite well, as her progress has shown. Of course, Natalia put in the the practice time as well, as she is not quite a musical prodigy, so she has had to work. Tony has supported her all along and been flexible with lessons and time as needed for upcoming events.
My son took saxophone lessons for the last 3 years as well. While quite talented, he doesn't like to work and focus on his music, so he only just almost regional 3 years in a row. That's not really Tony's fault, as he tried to show my son how to get the most out of his practice time, but regardless of talent, music takes work.
I'd gladly give Tony 5 stars for clarinet, as that is his principal instrument, and he is a great clarinetist, but my kids took flute and saxophone from him, which are instruments he doubles on professionally. However, Tony is an honest person, and he would let you know when the time comes for a change to a higher level professional on the secondary instruments. Most students will not ever get there, although it could happen for students planning to make a profession of musical performance."
