Hi fellow musicians! I am a professional touring musician, songwriter, and recording artist based in Austin, TX. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Mandolin Performance and a minor in American Roots Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Every musician has their own voice in this world. I want to work with you to mold and develop that voice with solid fundamentals and understanding of how music works. We will go over music theory and how it applies to your instrument and we will also touch on the mechanics of being a proficient player. All these things lead to being the best musician you can be!

20 years plus of teaching experience working with students from kids to adults means I know how to teach guitar! All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I grew up in the rock era so I am super at home teaching classic rock. I later expanded into classical guitar, Jazz, blues, bluegrass and fiddle tunes. I love working with students that are excited to learn and motivated to practice. I have legit educational credentials from UNT, Denton, TX and have studied classical guitar in Spain and Italy. I'm ready to help you achieve your musical goals, let's get started!

About Warren

I began my musical journey at an early age. My early influences were my mother who was trained as a classical pianist / visual artist and father who played Johnny Cash and Ventures tunes on the guitar. Growing up music was always in the around the house. From Debussy, Ravel, Tchaikovsky to folk, co

It was the best! I didn't know what to expect because I've never played before. Nairobi was patient, professional and thorough. He was reassuring and his instructions were easy to follow. No longer nervous, I feel like I've achieved a major goal in learning to play. 5 STARS!
Conrad
Vast experience and knowledge.
Patient approach to teaching.
Don
Nairobi has been a great instructor. He does not use the "one size fits all approach", but rather will customize the instruction to what you want. Accordingly, students will remain interested and get more out of it when the curriculum is of interest to them. I wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but wasn't interested in learning to read music. Nairobi also let's you choose what type and what specific songs you'd like to learn. Learning to play your favorite rock, pop or blues song versus Mary Had a Little Lamb- guess which one keeps you more motivated and interested in learning how to play? Also, being able to have the lesson in the privacy of your own home is great. He makes learning to play the guitar fun. If you put the work in you'll be playing in no time.

A few quick things about me:
• Have been teaching for 16 years
• Am a professional studio musician
• Have played in several touring bands
• Play/teach nearly all genres
• Took 12 years of lessons from a master
• Love teaching all ages and genres

Enough about me! We all know that everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. My process is to analyze each student's unique abilities and to create a personalized learning experience for everyone. I have taught people from 5 to 83. I believe it is important to be empathetic to each person's needs, for example, I have experience teaching left-handed people, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's syndrome, people with missing fingers and other difficulties. Parents always ask me how I can be so patient with their kids, (the real secret is that I don't have to take them home ;) but on a serious note, I always remember the extreme amount of frustrating hours I put in before I got any real results. It's the least
