Private Cello Teacher

I have a degree in music with a teaching certificate. I have been teaching cello privately for 10 years. Depending on the age of the child we will start with either Essential Elements or Suzuki cello book one. They will start with proper positioning and plucking. Once they have 8 notes down, we start bowing. As we progress, we will be doing scales, and etudes.

About Chris

I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. I am a member of American Strings Teacher's Association, National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association), and t

Ms Chris was great my daughter really enjoyed her first lesson. Ms Chris was easy to work with and made my daughter comfortable that she felt free to ask questions and make mistakes without worry. My daughter is looking forward to the next lesson.

If you’re looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable and patient strings teacher, you will love Mrs. Heins. Both of my sons have been taking lessons from Mrs. Heins for several years (one for viola and one for cello). They have learned so much under her instruction, such as earning All-County and All-State honors. They also practice their live performance skills twice a year during informal musical concerts. Mrs. Heins also offers participation in the Royal Conservatory Music Development program, which can earn your child credit for college. She is a gem and should you choose her, you won’t be disappointed.

Aaron spends quality time with our daughter and goes through material that is appropriate for her playing level. We are extremely pleased with his attention to her positioning and bowing. Great thanks to his teaching to help our daughter to work on skills!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

I teach beginners from scratch through cellists at the top of the field. I've trained more than 60 cellists, including children as small as three and a half years old, autistic children, beginning adolescents, cello "converts" from other instruments, blind students, adult beginners, conservatory-bound teens, and professional symphony players.
All the time I hear "I can't start, I'm too old", "I am not musically inclined", or "I am not talented"- all from people that never held an instrument in their lives. That is self-deprecating talk, and it is absolutely false. Everything a performer does was learned at some point. Absolutely everything. Any person has the potential to learn how to play incredibly well. It does not take a "gift" or "talent". It takes the initiative to try.

About Anna

I have a passion for training cellists to a high level of musicianship. I have mentored cellists from the first lesson through professional symphony auditions. I am certified with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and know the Suzuki Method intimately through growing up with the method myself

Anna is an extremely talented cellist. She plays with virtuosic technique, and she has great musical instincts. She has experience working with students from many backgrounds. She is patient, flexible, and energetic, and though I know her in a professional context, from what I've heard these traits certainly carry over into her teaching.
Angie
Wonderful teacher! She explains techniques in a way that is readily understood. I had previously struggled with certain learning curves where I'd hit a wall, and she helped me through them. She teaches with joy and passion!

She is in orchestra at her Middle School so the summer lessons have helped her improve her technique and when I listen to her practice I have noticed improvement in the sound. "After only two sessions I am so glad to have found Jessica. She is patient, observant, helpful and so encouraging. I was unsure how online cello lessons would work but this is the ideal format for me. Jessica is able to observe form and offer gentle suggestions how as well as instruction on sound. I wish I was able to take the lessons in person with Jessica because there are a couple limitations to Skype (such as a slight lag and inability to have seamless dialogue or duets) but Jessica obviously knows how to deal with these technical problems. I highly recommend Jessica and am sure that with her help even an old, slow returning cellist will soon be enjoying playing complex music. Finally, Jessica has been very flexible with my crazy schedule lately. An awesome person and great instructor."

"Arlette is the consummate professional. She is very passionate musician. She loves teaching, and watching each of her students improve each week. As a cellists she plays all over the Los Angeles area in various Orchestras. She is the Founder and Music Director of her own orchestra Culver City Chamber Orchestra.
Arlette loves to teach and as I watch her teaching she enjoys her students and she makes fell comfortable and relax during their lesson. This is why at the end do 6 months there're is a recital and they all have improved so well.
Without a doubt she is a great teacher!!!!
Sincerely,

Professor Catherine"

"James has been a wonderful teacher. He has greatly helped me advance in my beginning cello skills by carefully observing, demonstrating as needed, then showing me the things I can do to improve. He does this in such a manner that instead of feeling discouraged, I am even more motivated to improve. I am learning cello as an adult simply for the fun of trying something new. My wife, who played flute on scholarship through college and some professionally has noticed, and commented, on the improvement. In summary, I highly recommend James for both adults and for kids. He just has a great knack for teaching."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
