I teach Mandolin using the Suzuki method and then branch out into into bluegrass mandolin playing. The mandolin is tuned like a violin double strings. So the left hand fingering is the same as the violin and the picking is similar to the guitar. If you play the violin then the main thing you need to learn is the right hand picking. If you play the guitar then you will need to learn the left hand fingering. Mandolin is a fun instrument to learn and to play.

About Speedy

I have been teaching music for over fifty years. I have taught many professional teachers and students over the years. I have played professionally in Many Classical and Jazz groups. My quick start method gets beginners playing music right away. I studied classical violin from Don Samuleson, Prof

I've been teaching mandolin for 4 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. Mandolin is an often underappreciated instrument which is fantastic for both melodic and rhythmic playing styles. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking, chord changes and melodic playing, with a couple simple songs too. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Jefferson Park who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. Learning to play instruments is one of the true pleasures in his life and he hopes

I'm three lessons deep into the ukulele and I'm really satisfied with Ryan. We've met once in person and twice online; I've had some health issues and he has been really accomodating switching this up for me. He's easy going and takes his time expaining history, theory, and taking it step by step while remaining encouraging and giving honest feedback. He wastes no time and you really get the most out of your lesson. I look forward to continuing on with Ryan. As a teacher and performer myself, I appreciate that he gets down to the business of doing the work but is just very nice as well!
