Melody is a wonderful piano teacher. She taught my daughter for 2 months before she moved. My daughter learned several pieces of music which she performed at the recital. It was her first recital and she was nervous but Melody encouraged her and gave her the confidence to perform!

I highly recommend Miss Melody as a piano and voice teacher for young children. She is very well respected. Her passion in teaching music is shown through her enthusiasm and patient approach. She has developed a program and teaching techniques that are always age and skill level appropriate. She encourages her students throughout the lesson, providing just the right amount of urging to keep trying and not give up. Her goal is to let the student enjoy and appreciate the art of playing and singing. My daughter has taken both the piano and voice lessons for 2 years and our family has joined 3 music recitals, all professionally done and very well prepared. As she moves to DC, it is my great pleasure to recommend Miss Melody and I am so happy to tell you what a wonderful, caring and talented teacher she is that you won't be disappointed. Your children will look forward to their time with her. You sure will be learning from one of the best!

I enrolled my 8 year old grand daughter and 10 year old grandson for piano and singing during their family visit with us, which lasted two weeks. Each of them had eight lessons in total and for that span of time they have learned how to read notes and count patiently. They also learned to play other instruments such as maracas, chimes, etc. It was so nice of Ms Melody to be able to conduct a studio mini recital just for the two of them. It is really amazing how my grandkids has learned so much from her. When I found out she is moving, I knew it will be hard to find somebody like her who is not just a very good teacher, but you can tell that she loves the kids and teaching comes very easy for her. Thank you Ms Melody for your good heart. As other reviewer said she will be missed, surely she will. I remember my grand daughter’s exact words when we left after their last lesson, ”Ms Melody is really very nice grandma. I like her so much!”

About Aleksis
My name is Aleksis B., but many of my students know me as Mr. B. I am a professional instructor and performing musician who combines a love of music with a desire to help others who want to achieve their highest musical potential. I try to make that passion show in everything I do.

My education includes classical voice training with Michele Howard Hansen, an opera singer that often performs at the Kennedy Center. I studied piano with Geoffrey Chappell, who writes for Jazz Times. I also received compositional training on multiple instruments from Stanley Cowell, who recorded and performed with legends like Miles Davis.

I have been performing professionally since 1992. I studied education in college and did my student teaching in a music class at Goshen Elementary School in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

I have been teaching music pr
ofessionally now for over twenty years. Some students want to take a few lessons to see if it is something they will enjoy, others have worked with me for over a decade. I have mentored several students who have gone on to professional careers. I have experienced a lot of success teaching young children and those with special needs. I have been blessed with a tremendous amount of patience and truly enjoy teaching anyone who wants to learn.

Whatever your goals or abilities, I look forward to working with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
Experience fun based lessons as my teaching approach is relaxed and inspirational. I enjoy working with all ages, adjusting my teaching methods to accommodate your learning style and abilities. Learn to play the music you love! You learn best when you enjoy what you are playing, I can help you play along with your favorites or even write your own songs. I always ask my students at the beginning of a lesson "What would you like to do today?" Then structure the lesson accordingly into a routine that the student can practice on their own. Generally the time is divided into warm ups, learning new material, then picking a fun song the student choses. Whether your interest is Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop music, etc... I'm here help you reach your goals so let's make your dreams come true with music together!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Books, Guitar, music stand, metronome, picks, tuner, page clips, capo, media player, laptop, Keyboard (on request), and recording equipment (on request)

*** Specialties ***
With Voice I specialize in helping people prepare for auditions such as American Idol. I have students who simply want to be karaoke stars. I have several professional singers that hire me as a voice coach and producer for recording sessions. I have taught children as young as 2 and those that retired with a lifelong dream to sing. Though my training is classical, I can teach Jazz, Pop, Rock, Rap, R&B, etc...whatever is fun for the student. I highly recommend learning to read music but I do not push it unless parents want their child to.

With Piano I can teach traditionally from Alfred and Bastien Piano Courses depending if they are auditory or visual learners. For Kinesthetic learners I use Hanon scale exercises and Rothman Rhythm Exercises. For those that want to learn notation I introduce classical and Jazz composers unless there is a popular artist/band/movie theme etc...that they would like to learn. However I do not push students to read music unless their parents would prefer it. I tend to keep more students that want to learn to play by ear especially adults by using rhythm training and music theory exercises and then applying them to songs they love. For piano I haven't had much success with children younger than 3. I also have a lot experience working with special needs children.

For Guitar I teach Classical, Acoustic, and Electric all styles and genres. I encourage sight reading but don't mind using tabs. I use more exercises with these students, since the first month students have a hard time making a sound. I try to make the lessons fun by having students strum chords along with songs they chose. I teach lead and rhythm even songwriting and composition. Job satisfaction for me is seeing my students leave a lesson with a smile on their face so I make sure to be a fun based teacher that doesn't give the student a hard time about not practicing.

For Recording and Performance I use the knowledge I gained doing Pro Audio Sales for Guitar Center from 2000-2002 to help clients build their own home studio. I have lots of producers and engineers I work with on a regular basis to produce broadcast quality audio and video recordings and help my students use their lessons and pre-production for those opportunities. I can teach Garage Band or Pro Tools classes on navigating the software and utilizing all the commands. I can also teach room acoustics and using the right microphone and how to position them with the right equipment and the right acoustics to get the best possible tone that they are looking for. I can also teach editing, mixing, looping, sampling, midi, and mastering so that the student can eventually work on their own writing, performing, and recording their music.

Meagan is very flexible and is a great teacher. She doesn't make the student feel self-conscious about answering wrong, She gently asks the student to explain how they came up with the answer and allows them to correct themselves. If the student doesn't realize their error during the explanation, she explains to the student wherein the equation they made an error. She also repeats the problem areas with the student until they have a full understanding of the process.

I sought Meagan out after my daughter came home with a failing grade in Algebra I. I am very happy with my selection, she is the perfect fit for my daughter. She is very flexible and I appreciate that she doesn't make my daughter feel like her lack of understanding of the subject matter makes her inadequate. I am going to continue hiring Meagan for the duration of the school year, my daughter really likes her and is learning far more than she is from her regular classroom environment.

About Robert
I have taught acting for over 30 years based in the Meisner Technique, and I write and direct my own plays and films. I have years of experience as an actor, jazz saxophone player, singer and poet, as well as a philosophy degree, which I bring to my understanding of acting. I use this rich background to focus on the creativity, intelligence and improvisational abilities of each student in their acting process. I know what it takes to walk into any acting situation ready to play the role. My goal is to create actors who enjoy their work and can act skillfully in film, theater, tv and auditions. I emphasize character work in the program, an important and often neglected part of the acting process. I have cast my advanced students in my original projects in the DC area, and most recently directed my original play, "The Big A: Scenes fro
m a Vanishing Landscape" for the 2014 DC Fringe Festival. I have directed two films: "Adams Morgan: The Movie," which premiered at the Avalon Theater in 2010 and was selected and shown as part of the East of the River Festival in DC; and a short film from my original screenplay titled "Crazy" which is currently in the editing phase. My student Mack Leamon is currently appearing in the Arena Stage production of "Raisin in the Sun" and I am very proud of his accomplishment!

Mojy is BEST INSTRUCTOR EVER, very knowledgeable and passionate about the Persian Languages and teaching. She is very positive and wouldn't let you go to the next step before she makes sure you have learned what you need with fun and enthusiasm. She is very educated and learned about both Persian language and culture. She has a great understanding of the students' needs. Well, She is very pushy, but that is what we need to pass DLPT . Mojy is by far the most qualified and talented language instructor I have ever had. After a week of class it was clear that she was an instructor that was on a completely different level than my instructors in the past. While under her instruction i vastly improved in every facet of my language, both in skill and in confidence. Her class room provides a relaxed but highly focused environment, and she genuinely cares about her student's success. If you give her your attention and effort then you will not be disappointment with the results.

I can't recommend her highly enough. She knows what material works and how to explain complex grammatical concepts effectively. Best teacher ever!

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I have been teaching lessons professionally for over 10 years now. My primary instruments are voice and piano, and I also teach music theory/ear training/musicianship skills. I earned my degree in vocal performance from James Madison University, where I taught lessons to non-music majors as well as tutored general music for the student population. I also hold a masters degree in voice performance and pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory. I would describe my teaching style as fun and relaxed, with a strong emphasis on healthy technique. I believe that all students should have a strong technical foundation, and that begins on day one. Genres I teach include classical, musical theatre, pop, and accompanying skills for pianists. I can also help with audition prep on both instruments. I look forward to meeting with

Rachel is an extremely wonderful teacher and vocalist. I mainly sing Musical Theatre but have a background in Classical. When I feel like I'm beginning to develop unhealthy singing habits, I usually go back to my classical roots. So finding a teacher with experience in both Musical Theatre and Classical voice is extremely important to me. Rachel really focuses on the technique and finds a way to describe it and apply it in terms her students understand. I highly recommend her whether you have a background Musical Theatre, Classical, both, or more. She'll get you singing with a healthy voice in no time!

Hello there! I’m Adriana! I’m a Professional Hip Hop/Urban Freestyle Dancer and Creative Influencer— while having a very unique approach to fuse meditation within my teaching. Although I went to college for International Business, I found that Dancing was what made my soul sing! I took that passion and made something out of it, and every since then I have been able to Work with variety of different artis in the Maryland, DC, and Virgina areas.

I will admit that I didn’t go to your traditional preforming arts school, but I learned through a variety of professionals in array of dance styles. I can proudly say that I taught myself how to freestyle, which is one the hardest things to do as a dancer. I then took my dance up a notch and added more to the visuals by adding jewelry and fashion. With this addtion under to my belt, I’ve been
able to truly display my full essences of myself in music videos, and project with different artist all over the world.

Students of mine can expect to learn more than just dancing but also learn to freestyle while incorporating fundamental techniques, and be able to allow dance to be a catalysts to build stronger confidence; While also developing a balance of the mind to enhance peace/happiness in ones life through dance meditation, and being able to express all thoughts fully through the body. I’ve learned that Dance can offer so much— you just have to be a little creative and my goal is to help you unlock your creative potential.

I’ve taught a variety of privates lessons, group classes, and summer camps. I’ve taught ages ranging from ages 3 and up. All I need is your time and determination to help achieve you goals!
