About Susan
Acting – I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I also have quite a bit of experience performing in all those arenas. I have a relationship with one of the best management agencies in the area, so my students get fast-tracked with her.

Voice – Anyone can sing. If you want to and have always thought you couldn't, you will be delighted when I prove you wrong. Training for the voice is pretty much the same, whatever style you are interested in. Then I'll coach you in your chosen style and we'll pick songs you like.

Singing beautifully is not enough. I can't tell you how many times I heard in grad school "beautiful voices are a dime a dozen." I will teach you how to OWN the song. That's what keeps people coming back.

Speaking – Every public spe
aker I know has lost their voice at some point, but not from talking too much. It's because they don't know how to use their voice properly. Learn that, and you need never lose your voice to over-use. That's easy to teach.

Writing – I have been a professional writer and editor for over eight years, with many books, articles, posts, newsletters, etc. to my name. I use – and teach – practical grammar, not just correct grammar. I can also help you make your words more powerful.

I've been taking lessons with Susan Scher for about two months now. I can easily say I've been impressed at how much I've improved. I look forward to lessons every week. I feel that soon enough I'll be able to audition for roles in film and television. If you live in the Baltimore area and are interested in voice acting or any acting in general. Contact her and go, you won't be disappointed.

I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

About Milka
My name is Milka. I have been tutoring for about 8 years now. I am an MB3 (Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry) Major. I believe students learn science by doing science, and that my classes are a medium through which my students will learn life skills that are critical for their success in college and future careers. As our students must be prepared to work cooperatively in a global and technological society where many of them will eventually hold jobs that do not yet exist, I emphasize critical thinking and problem solving, using our science content to develop good evidence-based reasoning and communication skills.

About Jennie
Are you preparing for (gulp) college auditions? Getting ready for a big presentation at work? Curious about acting and want to give a shot? Whatever your performance goals might be, I can't wait to take your work to the next level!

I am a lifelong actor and passionate teacher, who loves to help students find joy, freedom, and dynamism in performance.

I have an MFA from the Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University/ The Shakespeare Theatre of DC (the only MFA in the world specifically devoted to acting Shakespeare) and a BFA from NYU-Tisch (with a focus on musical theatre at CAP 21. I have been a member of Actors' Equity since age 19, and have played leading roles off-Broadway (The Mint Theater, The Actors’ Studio) and regionally (Bucks County Playhouse, Fireside Theatre, East Lynne Theatre, etc), with notable
reviews in Variety, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many others.

In addition to performing, I am a Standardized Patient at UMD and John's Hopkin's University, where I assist doctors and nurses in patient communication. As a teaching artist, I have worked with students age 5-88 on finding and sharing their unique voice.

As your coach, we will patiently and persistently discover the methods that enable your absolute best work. I am a certified Yoga teacher, and I love to draw on principles of mindfulness in performance preparation. From Linklater voice work, to Mask exercises, to breath awareness, we will develop a method that works for you. Best of all: we'll have a blast doing it.

I have had several lessons with Jennie Bissell in my home. I often give lectures in academic settings, and I was hoping to improve the quality and fluency of my speech to a level equivalent to top public speakers. Working with Jennie, I made improvements beyond what I could have expected. We worked on a variety of breathing and relaxation techniques used by professional actors. By focusing on producing speech "on voice" the quality and ease of understanding of my speaking increased substantially with immediate benefits. I highly, highly recommend her services for anyone interested in improving their public speaking skills.

I have had two lessons with Jennie via Skype. Both were excellent. I have participated in many public speaking classes and coaching sessions. What makes Jennie's approach unique is that she shares the techniques she has learned as an actor - to help you be more relaxed and natural in your delivery, to improve the quality and resonance of your voice, and to make the way you deliver your lines more interesting and effective.

Welcome :)

When I was young, I was a fairly shy child. When I was introduced to art, it helped me out of my shell and allowed me to blossom into the person I am today. As I grew, I've learned a wide variety ort mediums to help me express my emotions in different ways. Soon becoming advance in, drawing, painting, animation, realism, writing (spoken word, poetry, rap etc), and proficient in digital design and multimedia. By the time I was 13, I had begun my journey of giving back by helping others learn to express themselves through different forms of art. Holding classes at summer camps and various branches of libraries in the DMV Area.

I live in West Baltimore, being a hands on learner, she was the closest in peron lesson I could take. It was upsetting that she didn't offer In Home lessons, but being a female I understand her concerns. I dont have a car so it was so great that she was willing to meet me downtown. We meet at the starbucks on Pratt. I had left my sketchbook but she didnt trip she had paper I could use. She was very patient with me, and even walked with me to the busstop. Very nice young lady and I look forward to our next lesson.

I was very skeptical to book with Jayla but I couldnt beat the price. My son is really shy and wants to join the poety group at his school but wants to get more comfortable with it first. I've never been to Morgan before but she made it very easy to find the building. I was late picking up my son, but she didnt charge so that was good. My son seemed to really enjoy it, so im glad I took the chance. Will book with her again.
