Based on my experience as a working professional guitarist and music educator, with extensive experience touring in the U.S. and Europe, I have come to believe that every student has the ability to rapidly grow and flourish into an accomplished guitar player. The trick is to find the type of music that the student is most excited about playing, and then to teach them the basic skills they will need to play in that style. I always do this through a combination of working with students to learn the songs or pieces they love, and teaching them some of the underlying principles of music theory and instrumental style that define that genre of music. Through this process, I want to ensure that students acquire a skill set that allows them to continue teaching themselves, even outside of our lessons, learning new songs by ear, and even writing their own music using the techniques we practice in lessons. I make a point of ensuring that, after every lesson, my students come away with a new ...

Classical guitar is warm, rich, and beautifully complex. It is a self-contained artform which needs no accompaniment. Classical guitar music is instantly gratifying, even at the beginner level. To unlock your highest potential, I'll help you learn proper picking as well as fret hand technique, sight reading, music theory, and fretboard logic. We will also study and learn chord voicings, voice leading, ear training, and sight-singing.

My teaching style is friendly, patient, and inclusive. I believe in a well rounded teaching approach through reading, as well as learning to play by ear.
I prefer to use these books for reading and developing good technique:

Aaron Shearer Classic Guitar Method vol. 1 and 2
Classical Guitar Duets: Charles Duncan
Franz Wohlfahrt Violin Etudes: 60 Studies
Frederick Noad Classical Guitar Technique, vol. 1 and 2

I've been going to Jason for a few months now and I have significantly improved my playing ability and increased my music knowledge. Lessons are tailored to what I want to learn and there has been noticeable improvement even over a short period of time.

He is really patient and kind, and he got playing songs in days.

Jason tailors the course to a student's individual learning pace and needs. There is also a good combination between theory and learning cords to play a song. Technique is emphasized to build good habits and a foundation for future growth.

I combine the styles of music that you prefer with some kind of method book for reading and theory. No purchasing of music is required. Normal lessons start with the previously assigned material, determining what we need to work on, new material, and ending with things to do at home.

Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

I have been teaching guitar professionally for over 4 years in the Atlanta area. As a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, I have developed a deep love for music and the guitar which I thoroughly enjoy sharing with my students. I currently teach and perform, traveling across the United States with various groups performing a multitude of genres, all of which I love teaching and sharing with eager students! I was not a "natural" guitarist, so I have a great method for making guitar/music make sense so that all of my students can be successful. I look forward to working with you!

I am a professional guitarist, composer, and educator living in the Greater Atlanta Area. I started playing guitar while in high school at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. I owe a lot of my success to my time spent here as this school is consistently ranked one of the top schools in the nation. I

I am an experienced music instructor who has been teaching for years, both privately, and working at multiple private studios. I grew up playing electric guitar, ranging from metal, to classic rock, to neo-classical. I am currently a performance major for guitar studying at Arizona State University under incredible instruction from amazing instructors. As a former music education major, I emphasize the importance of a versatile approach to teaching that suits each individually and promotes a greater opportunity for learning. I teach my students to understand and conceptualize music, rather than being able to repeat notes. Lessons will include theory, improvisation, focus on healthy practice and mental habits. I personally strive for all of my students to reach a potential that allows for them to be versatile and proactive musicians that can be comfortable in a variety of musical scenarios. I teach all ages, ranging from young children to seniors. All levels of experience, from ...

"I love taking lessons with Raymond! I have been studying classical guitar with him for about three years, and look forward to my lessons more now than when I started them. I have some musical background, but always felt stuck when taking instrumental lessons from other instructors, wondering if I would ever be able to work hard enough to truly learn an instrument well. Raymond's expertise, his kindness, sense of humor, and holistic teaching style--that reaches me on my level, rather than just telling me what to do--really shows the results of great instruction. Plus, some of Raymond's methods for learning guitar apply to other areas in life and help me work through other "challenges"! Thank you for inspiring me, Raymond!"

"I have been taking lessons with Ahmad since June - I was referred by a mutual acquaintance. I bought myself a guitar for my birthday a year ago and realized I needed some outside motivation to play it. While I'm relatively new to guitar and this is my first time taking guitar lessons, I have been drumming for 13 years with private instruction and university courses. I would highly recommend Ahmad. He is inspiring, professional, informative, and patient; a shining example of what a great teacher should be.

Over the past five months, I've already seen significant improvement in both my guitar performance as well as my understanding of the guitar and music in general. Ahmad is very good at balancing the scale between creativity and technique, while never losing sight of what your goals are as a student. As with any learning process, I would suggest you understand your own goals and level of commitment before jumping in to lessons. As I've seen, Ahmad will probably motivate you to practice more than you originally thought, which I really appreciate. It's with practice and strong understanding that I've gotten to a point where I am proud of my abilities on the guitar. Work with Ahmad and I hope you find the same!"

Country music has changed a lot over the past couple decades, but the classic country songs from the 50s and 60s still highlight the country music genre.
