Great first lesson!!

My daughter takes guitar from Maria and I didn’t realize how much she’s progressed until we went to a friend’s recital. 8 months with Maria and my child is leaps and bounds ahead of kids who’ve been taking for 2-3 years. It’s really motivating for her to see. Maria has standards which are non-negotiable but she’s patient and truly guides the kids to success. I’m so happy with our choice as her as a teacher.

Maria has been wonderful with our son. Very motivating and goal based. The recitals blow me away year after year. The progress these kids make with her plus the longevity of her students says a lot.

I studied classical guitar in college and continue to incorporate various methods in to my general guitar lessons. Spent quite a bit of time on Fernando Sor and Bach.

About Joe

I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient

Classical guitar students start with five subjects.

1) Technique is concerned with the development of the physical mechanics involved in playing the instrument.

2) Scales are a part of basic music vocabulary and building blocks of the musical language.

3) Chords are also basic vocabulary of the musical language.

4) Note reading is not required for every student. It really depends on the students' goals. However, I strongly encourage everyone learn to read musical notation, (more than tablature). Literacy in reading music is analogous to literacy in reading in our English language. Can you imagine how much smaller our world would be if we couldn't read?

5) Classical repertoire (songs) utilize the skills and concepts of all the previously mentioned subjects and are the goal of studying music. And by the way, they are really fun to play.

A beginning student will practice all these subjects as part of the daily practice routine. A half hour practice session will ...

I have been teaching Classical guitar for 50 years. I've played classical guitar in theater productions and for weddings and formal dinners. I teach from the great progressive Suzuki method and then beyond to the great classical pieces from the renisaunce on through to the contemporary. Along with the pieces, we study scales and chord theory. For those who love the classical music, this is a fun energy packed study that moves at the peak of your pace. You will love it.

"I have been taking classical guitar lessons with Remi for about a month now and so far my experience has been very positive. Remi is an excellent musician with robust knowledge of theory and technique. His experience and background is impressive as well.

As a teacher, Remi is very patient and works with you to help you understand music theory and improve your techniques. He is focused on making his students well-rounded musicians and has a long-term view in mind with his teaching style, which I appreciate. His sessions are very casual and have a relaxed feeling.

Overall, I rate him very highly as an instructor and I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking to learn an instrument in which he has proficiency."
