As a bass opera singer and professional voice over artist, I am dedicated to creating a healthy and beautiful sound with my own voice and the voices of my students. I will not come into our lessons saying there is a single way to sing. In fact, many genres require a great deal of varying vocal techniques and stylized voices. What I will do is help to lay a foundation in healthy singing so that you feel comfortable singing any genre. We will start by ensuring that your breath and vowel placement feels comfortable and from there move into repertoire of your choosing or some that I recommend based upon your interests. You will leave your tenure with me empowered to continue your passion and career for singing long after your lessons end. Music is meant to be shared. Together, we will help you to share the music and passion that you hold so dear.

As a voice instructor with over 20 years experience in the private studio, college environment, church ministry, high school chorus master teacher, and as a free-lance performer, I understand that each student requires tools and techniques unique to their needs to grow and improve. Focusing on the basics of breath control, efficient support, and healthy vocal production, my gift of hearing and assessing each student's strengths and weaknesses allows me to create lessons catered to each singer's specific needs.
With a Master of Music in vocal performance from Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, an appreciation of various styles of music, and my personal investment in each individual singer, I am able to successfully share my knowledge of the vocal instrument and my love of music with my students. I am proud of my student success rate with many singers pursuing degrees in music at the collegiate level, winning competitions, earning roles in local and community ...

Desiree Soteres is the perfect vocal teacher for students of all ages. She is has an excellent performance, as well as academic, background. She is patient and knows how to draw the best out of her students.
Desiree's studio is as fine as any you could possibly find in the most professional of settings and far exceeded my expectations. In addition to this, the location is VERY safe and has easy access to public transportation. Parking is also easily found on its quiet, tree-lined street.
Choose this teacher and her studio with complete confidence!"

I've been having lessons with Asuka since February of this year and it has been a wonderful experience. As a beginner with absolutely no formal training in singing whatsoever, the whole process of learning to sing opera can seem like an extremely daunting task. She is encouraging and friendly, yet treats her art form with the thoroughness and respect it deserves. She really takes the time to explain proper technique throughout the entire process-- from things like maintaining proper support for your voice and more importantly how to sing opera without hurting yourself. Personally, she is helping me to find potential that I didn't think I had before. I feel very fortunate that I am able to have one on one sessions with someone of Asuka's caliber."

To date, 3 lessons, but still have improved enormously. High notes once scary are beginning to float. She, in few words, but vivid gesture has shown me well-grounded use of my body."

It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
