Blues is the heart and soul of American music. Every note sings with feeling and attitude. Make your guitar become your voice through diverse string bending and vibrato techniques, open tunings, four note chord voicings, voice leading, learn to play independent harmonies using fingerstyle or hybrid picking. Study all of the great blues forms, learn to improvise as well as compose. Peter is hands down the best teacher ever! I had such a hard time learning the basics of acoustic, but he taught me so many tricks and made the learning process smooth. I feel like a pro now! Will be continuing learning from him!

Liam was my teenage sons guitar teacher for a year, (would have been forever but he moved).. He put a love and understanding for the guitar which has now leaked into all kinds of other instruments my son likes to play. I am thankful we found Liam, he was always professional, punctual and efficient in actually teaching music. :)
Jeremy
I took lessons with Liam for about a year straight and then off and on whenever I could. During that time he gave me a very strong understanding of the fundamentals of the instrument and helped explain technical aspects I was curious about. He's easily one of the best guitar players I've ever heard, and if you want to hear for yourself I highly recommend checking out his social media. He plays just about every style I can think of off the top of my head and knows his fair share of music production as well. I went from a beginner guitar player to being able to play and figure out songs on my own after taking lessons with him. I cannot recommend him enough.

"I started taking weekly electric guitar lessons with Mr. Soukis at his Times Square studio, after watching many videos of him rockin' the blues at various venues in New York City. He is one of those rare teachers who is not only knowledgeable, but also able to share the knowledge with his students in a comfortable and relaxing manner. I have always been afraid of the guitar but the man has cured my guitar phobia. He has made learning the guitar approachable and fun!!"

"Frank is a thorough and detailed teacher. He is always prepared for each lesson and will cater each week based on your needs and interests. He is skilled at teaching theory and technique through practice and real life musical examples. In other words you will learn to play a lot of music while simultaneously becoming a more knowledgeable musician. As a musician he is like a human jukebox And has experience playing in many different styles. I purchased his books, published by Alfred‘s music from Amazon and I have used those as reference points for my learning as well. Without a doubt I recommend Frank as a teacher and for any age group or level of interest. I give him five stars he’s fantastic!"

Michael is extremely versatile in the styles of music he masters on the guitar while being patient, funny and incredibly encouraging! Besides being highly proficient on the guitar, he manages to let production, songwriting and singing he a part of the lesson. Michael taught me how to be confident in my voice as a musician and inspires me to be better at guitar playing everyday!"

"I'm about to have my forth lesson with John and I must say he is an amazing musician and an amazing guitar teacher. In the last four weeks, John and I have been working on blues guitar licks. I've been playing at the same level for years. John has changed that for me immediately after our first lesson. He has made a huge difference in my playing and my approach to the guitar.

After I finish writing this review, I will be signing up for additional lessons.

Thanks John"

"Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!"

A Fun Blues Guitar Exercise to Get You Started

If you're familiar with blues chords and ready to start trying your hand at some riffs, this exercise from guitar teacher Samuel B. will help you get the ball rolling... As an instructor (and blues guitar afficionado), I'm keen on you developing a working knowledge of the blues. The blues is the musicological basis of all recognizable forms of American music (gospel, contemporary country, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, early rock n roll, the list goes on). Therefore, said knowledge will imp …
