I've been playing bass since I was 11. I have a degree in jazz performance so improvisation plays a key role in my lessons, but am fully capable of teaching any style. If you take lessons with me, we will certainly cover the basics of two finger style grooves, but can easily dive into advanced techniques like two hand tapping, artificial harmonics, chordal playing, three finger techniques, and slapping and popping.
About Tommy
My name is Tommy. I've been playing bass and guitar since I was 11 years old. When I was in high school, I won my school's Duke Ellington Jazz Performance Award my junior year. Around this time I began to work at my neighborhood's local lesson shop Let's Play Music! off of W Broad Street in Falls C

Bass guitar was one of those things I had a passion about for many years before I took it up. When I finally did, I explored the techniques of many of the great players like Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius. I have performed in several bands as the bassist, but I've most enjoyed studying it as a solo instrument while writing my own pieces and learning songs of great artists like Larry Graham and John Mayer.
I typically play a 6 string bass but I'm happy to teach any type of bass from a 4 to 11 string instrument. I love teaching improvisation and special right hand techniques, so whatever path you want to go down I bet I can help you.
About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn

Tommy taught me bass for about a year and in that time I learned more about my bass and amps, how to play better and read and interpret music better, how to play better with others and even music theory (especially as it relates to bass playing).
And I thought I was just going to get bass lessons!!"

If you’ve ever seen or heard an MTV Unplugged concert, you’ve probably seen and heard an acoustic bass guitar. This is a hollow body instrument that is the size of an acoustic guitar, but has the sound of a bass. In the 1980s and 1990s, rock bands would perform their electric guitar songs with acoustic guitars, and bassists could be heard or seen playing these instruments that are not too common in the world of music. But if they made it all the way to the MTV screens for decades, why h …
