I began learning drums through Rock Band, yes.. I said a video game. After a month or two I was playing songs on hard or expert difficulty and I soon began applying the rhythms and rudiments I was learning in Rock Band to a real drum set. I began playing drums every day. I played in a few different bands in my teen years, recorded in studios and currently I accompany musicians around San Diego regularly.

Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.

I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.

I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!) I've been lucky enough to record and share the stage with famous Chicago musicians, such as Chris Siebold, Mark Colby, Frank Caruso, Jeremy Khan, and Marlene Rosenberg, among others. Hi, my name is Liam, and I am excited to help you or your child learn how to play the drums.

My 20+ years of performing across the country taught me how to wow audiences from 10 to 10,000. But teaching has taught me compassion, and how to break big, complicated things down into bite size pieces.

I’m most interested in students learning to play music they love, and learning the techniques and the rudiments to help them get there along the way.

Playing music is fun, and learning it should be, too.

I'm an experienced drum teacher and my main focus is to find out what your goals are and help you achieve them! Lesson with me are tailored to your specific needs in a fun and always musical way. You'll learn rudiments, technique, and reading while playing along to your favorite songs.
