I am a professional violinist and violin instructor in the Washington, DC Metro Area.
Currently teaching in Arlington, VA and Washington DC area, I have been a private violin instructor for over 7 years. I have a great love for music and hope to be able to pass it on to anyone eager to learn. I teach beginner to advanced violin students of any age, child to adult (adults, it’s never too late to learn if you have always wanted to!). Although there is no specified age limit, children younger than the age of 6 are admitted only at my discretion.
Send me a message and let's start playing together!!

Milena taught me everything with a firm but gentle hand, and really pushed me to be the best I could be. Her lessons were really personalized to what I was capable of, and although I hit some rough spots it was usually because of my own practice habits. All in all, I’m very glad I had her as my teacher.

Milena really knows her stuff. She’s very consistent and really focused on teaching. If you follow her instructions you will improve. Thank you for the lessons Milena! I promise I will get better at practicing!

The violin has been a constant and enriching presence throughout my life, and I enjoy helping people engage with this instrument that is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. No matter your age or level of expertise, I would be happy to help you along as you discover new musical territory. I’m most fluent in the classical style, but am happy to explore other areas with you as well, from bluegrass to Broadway.

About Kris

I have been teaching the violin to students of all ages and abilities for close to twenty years, and have had great satisfaction in seeing them all grow and develop over time. Some of my younger students have gone on to the Interlochen Arts Camp, and one of my former adult students still makes an

Watching my students overcome challenges and develop their own musicality is what makes this the best job in the world. I truly believe that anyone can learn music just like anyone can learn a language. I most enjoy meeting new people and discovering what they're passionate about as well as how they learn best. I pride myself on my problem solving skills, positive attitude, patience, resourcefulness, and creativity.

I have a peaceful home studio in Laurel, MD, but can also travel to students for in home lessons or give lessons online via webcam. I prefer to teach in my studio, however, because I have a wide variety of resources available to enhance your learning experience. (For example, I can't haul my 88 key Yamaha piano to and from your house every week ;)

I think I differ from other teachers in two distinct ways.
First, I don't give up. I will pick your brain and try to communicate musical concepts to you in any way, shape or form until you leave the lesson feeling like ...

About Carly

Hello! My name is Carly Cascio. My relationship with music started when I was just 6 years old. My mother signed me up for suzuki violin lessons and I hated them so much I threw my violin on the ground. 18 years later and here I am now, teaching violin for a living! I really didn't foresee mysel

Carly is an amazing teacher. I've been her student for about a year and a half now and I have learned so much from her. She's the kind of teacher who helps you understand the lesson through various ways to truly make you get it.

I have learned quite a number of songs that I have always wanted to learn to play but thought I couldn't because the difference in skill was too great. I am a huge fan of Lindsey Stirling and because of Carly, I have learned how to play Take Flight, First Light, Brave Enough, River Flows in You, Hallelujah, Beyond the Veil. Take Flight was the song that made me want to learn the violin and I am ecstatic to say that I can play it.

If you decide you want to learn the violin or another instrument that she plays, you can't go wrong with Carly!

I was raised in the Suzuki method, trained in it, and I believe in it. It is the most effective school of education for new musicians who want to learn reliably. I've been teaching it 9 years.

I can talk to you for days about the method, but I will sum it up as quickly as i can.

1: Immersion
2: Daily Practice
3: Listening
4: Strong relationship between student, teacher and parent.

If the student listens everyday, practices everyday, practices what i tell them, and is made to love the music, you will learn. I've taught hundreds of students this way and when all the conditions are met, all my students have had success.

As a violin teacher, I love helping my students achieve their goals!
I believe not only the results matter, but also the journey. I focus my lessons on helping the student learn and have a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, rhythm, technique, and how all those apply to the violin. I specialize in classical music and I use methods such as Suzuki, Essential Elements, and many others to help you become a better violinist. The lessons take place in a relaxed and fun setting :)

About Tania

I have been playing the violin for more than 20 years but my love for teaching started about 10 years ago! I became fascinated with teaching as not only I have learned so much about myself as a musician and person but most importantly I have learned how to help my students become better musicians.

Tania has been a great teacher for my son. He started learning violin with the Suzuki method and studied with a Suzuki teacher for about four years before stopping lessons. He became interested in violin again in middle school and decided he wanted to take private lessons while in 7th grade. Tania had no trouble getting him back on track, picking up with some Book 2 pieces and moving on to Book 3. She has helped him with his bowing, vibrato and shifting, and his sound has really improved. She also has helped him learn to read better and has introduced some basic music theory into lessons. My son really likes his lessons, and feels that he is learning what he needs. Overall, I like her approach, which I think works very well for this level. She is an excellent musician, and this comes through in her teaching.
Andrea G.
My first lesson with Tania met my expectations. She did an assessment to determine where I am in my learning and what I know. She gave me great pointers and we worked on a short piece alone with a Major scale. I look forward to my next lesson and expect to progress tremendously under her instruction.
Delia
I had such a wonderful experience with Tania as my violin teacher. I minored in music at Florida State University and was lucky enough to be her violin student for two years (August 2013-May 2015). Tania was extremely patient and encouraging, and was very skilled in teaching me how to balance focus on technical details as well as on the "bigger picture" of emotion and musicality. In my opinion and experience, Tania's greatest strength as a teacher is being very adaptable to her students' needs. When I was preparing for an important audition, her expectations and demands were where they needed to be in order for me to succeed. Months later, when I was approaching exams and graduation, she recognized that practicing every day was not my priority at that time, and she adjusted her teaching style so that I could still improve and use music as a constructive and creative outlet during those stressful times so that I could excel in my examinations.

From lesson to lesson (and in-between!), she succeeded in her best efforts in connecting with me not only as my teacher and as a fellow musician, but also as a fellow human being, pushing me to fulfill my potential in each and all of these areas. I highly recommend her as a teacher!
