As far as specific methods, it depends on the student. Everyone is unique and I find it essential to cater to each individual's learning styles, abilities, pace and personalities in a unique fashion. I will find the appropriate approach and learning material for each student, and apply the appropriate curriculum for them. I will provide all the essentials for getting a solid foundation, while using the proper motivation and patience, as well as keeping it fun and interesting.

About Jason

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. I was blessed to have a great instructor who motivated me and provided me with a great foundation to build upon. I would like to be able to pay it forward and do the same for you. I studied music at UMBC, and I received certifications in audio producti

I combine the styles of music that you prefer with some kind of method book for reading and theory. No purchasing of music is required. Normal lessons start with the previously assigned material, determining what we need to work on, new material, and ending with things to do at home.

About Sean

Hi! I'm Sean. I am an active freelance composer, guitarist, and teacher in Baltimore City. I have a degree from Peabody in Music Composition and I am a firmly established teacher of guitar, violin, piano, and rock instruments in the city. I play a wide range of styles - fingerstyle, classical, rock

Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

You will learn to play music you love.
We will use the design of the guitar to your learning and playing advantage.
Students like yourself learn to play beautifully in days, sometimes hours.

You are growing in a direction every moment.
Whether that direction includes excellence with the magical instrument we know as a guitar, or somewhere else, is a choice completely up to you now.

I will not only be your teacher, but I will teach you how to be your teacher.

About Spencer

I quit guitar at 7 years old. I realized that many people quit for the same reason I did: when their fingers stroked the guitar, they didn't like the sounds they heard. Like many, I grew tired of the instrument, had no motivation to build the required finger strength, and decided playing guitar wa

Guy's a legend and he's not even 30 I don't think. You will love learning to play with Spencer!!!!!
Miguel Tomas
I am taking Spencer's advanced course at the moment, and I gotta say... This guy is just prodigious.
He's really personable, so in our first lessons, I learned that he taught himself to play by ear, like many of the greats.
What is really helping me play better, is something he calls the art of transformation; something he learned from listening to rare vinyl records nearly 100 years old.
Not only will you get better at guitar, but if you ask Spencer, you will learn many interesting facts about music and it's evolution.

All ages are welcome! I've been playing guitar for 15 years, and been involved in multiple groups and bands (playing guitar, bass, drumset, marching drums, and sometimes vocals) since 2008. I teach fundamentals of playing (finger-picking or with a pick), how to read tabs, alternate tunings, chord structure, the importance of scales, and can help you learn to pick up your favorite songs just by listening to them! If you are interested, I can also show you how to get started on recording your own music!

About James

I'm a guitar/marching drum teacher from Oxford, AL. I've been playing guitar for 15 years and marching percussion for 11 years. I am currently employed as an electrician on a US Navy submarine in New London, CT, but music has always been my main passion. I teach guitar (beginner to intermediate)

Tyler is a wonder and talented musician who teaches. I have found the norm is that talented musicians play and the rest teach. Tyler does both wonderfully! He's a creative and encouraging teacher who know how to take complex material and explain it in a way anyone can understand! I highly recommend him to whoever is interested in learning a musical Instrument!

"I've been taking lessons with Nick for a few months now and it's been a really positive experience! I have no guitar experience at all so I'm coming in as a true guitar novice. Nick takes time to explain techniques and encourages you to "listen" to the notes and to hear how the music comes together. He's very patient and definitely has a wealth of guitar knowledge. If you're looking to learn guitar, then I'd definitely recommend Nick!"

"I have had a few guitar teachers in the past but none as personable and approachable as Paul. It truly makes a difference when you are not afraid to ask questions or not afraid to mess up. Paul worked with me at my pace and met me at my level. In addition to the lessons about guitar Paul is also very knowledgeable about music in general and has been opening me up to new artists. I recommend this teacher for anyone whether they are just starting out or looking to pick up where they left off. Paul's the best!"

At college, David majored in studio composition, a commercial writing major. So he brings a thorough understanding of musical structure.
