Students will learn the proper Italian traditions of the Bel Canto style first and eventually how to appropriately apply these traditions to the later Verismo style of singing opera if vocally appropriate for the student.

These lessons will start with the same approach as the classical voice lessons since the same bel canto technique is fundamental and necessary to performing Verismo. We will go over what is appropriate to the various opera styles.

All singing lessons begin at age 13.

I have been singing opera for 7 years now, and Christine had the most thorough teaching process by far! I found my real voice underneath all the conformity I had been taught through choir and am now moving through singing more powerful and with my "real voice." She is open to workshopping repertoire that you are interested in, and suggests things that will help you grow your voice while not pushing an agenda, so you feel as though you have lots of artistic freedom.
Also just a super warm and authentic person. Overall a great experience!

Christine is extremely talented and provided me with positive yet technical feedback each practice.

Christine is a Godsend! Prior to working with her, I studied classical voice and opera with several instructors. Christine is by far the best teacher and wish I had met her sooner!

As an accomplished singer herself, she is able to identify challenging areas and help improve technique. I’m now attempting pieces with confidence that I never would have attempted previously. And, I find the sessions very relaxing and enjoyable. She inspired me to push myself further and feel like I’m getting great results! Well worth the investment.

I believe opera singers have a unique mission in life to bring joy and healing to others thru the power of the great music they sing.

You will receive my holistic approach to Bel Canto, the Italian tradition of beautiful singing. In addition to vocal and breathing exercises that I've designed to simplify and de-mystify classical technique, you'll be given a system of self-study so that you can begin to fully master and own your singing body.

We'll work with diction, languages, arias, vocalizes, interpretation. I speak several languages, and emphasize the importance of words when singing.

We will use piano accompaniment tracks from youtube, or other sources. I do simple piano accompaniments only.

If you are already an advanced singer, I may ask you to invite in and bring your own occasional pianist/accompanis at some of our lessons, as we work on finalizing your opera arias.

About Ahdda

For over 25 years, I've been training and empowering singers from beginners to professionals to find and keep their optimum voice and musical style. I believe that good opera training prepares you for a long and healthy singing life, and a voice that can sing in a variety of styles. I offer in-per

Ahdda has worked with my daughter for two years, and is an outstanding teacher. Ahdda focuses not only on how singing should sound, but on how your body should feel and what it should be doing when you sing. She explains this clearly, and the techniques she teaches result in a beautiful sound while ensuring that the singer's voice will remain healthy.
Yanqing
My past voice trainings have a rigid approach so I was following the instructions mechanically. I thought that this is the way to go--until I met Ms.Ahdda. Her "Voga" (voice yoga) focuses on sensations and helps me to trust that my body has the ability to create the right sound. I stopped analyzing the "why"s and am instead remembering the right feelings. My singing skills have improved so much, and I have only been working with Ms. Ahdda for 6 months!

"It has been both a pleasure and a blessing for me to have Ms. Collver as my voice instructor. Within the first two lessons she was able to immediately recognize what we needed to work on the most in order to bring out the best of my voice and so she created a well developed plan that we have been productively working on. Furthermore, Ms. Collver, does a great job at making one comfortable and confident every step of the progress by making sure each concept she teaches is firmly grasped."

"Michelle and Robert are wonderful patient and professional. My daughter 15 years old benefited greatly from the many techniques (classical and operatic) taught by Michelle and Robert. They always stress the importance of vocal health, even incorporating stretching, proper exercises, breathing, and proper vowel sounds. Not only did they prepare my daughter vocally but taught her facial structure, posture and how to add her acting and emotion into her signing while still having a great projection. An added benefit being instructed by this wonderful duo is having the knowledge from both female and male seasoned professionals. I highly recommend you meet with them at least once and see the difference. I can't wait to see them again. Jess and Sophie"

Her style of teaching is quite effective because she is passionate, knowledgeable, talented, and quite fun and friendly. Because she has been so dedicated to honing her own craft (She practices and works incredibly hard), she can break down and clarify technique in a way that is informative, relatable, and inspiring."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
