All ages are welcome. I am an experienced musician and educator with a B.M dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance from Berklee College of Music, as well as a Master of Music Theory and Composition Degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University.
I encourage learning with creativity and curiosity, which makes the lessons both fun and productive. I mainly teach voice, piano, music theory and composition lessons for all ages.
Besides these subjects, I also give lessons for ABRSM exam prep, college-bound musician prep, music theory placement exam, music history placement exam, ear training, arranging, orchestration, counterpoint, classical harmony, jazz harmony, Logic Pro, Sibelius and Pro Tools.
Formerly, I taught voice at City Music Mentoring Program in Boston, and worked as a music tutor at Berklee College of Music Learning Center for subjects such as harmony, ear training, arranging and counterpoint. As a music tutor, I was responsible for helping ...

I have been teaching privately and in colleges/schools for over 15 years. For all levels, I will help you develop excellent technique on the saxophone and build a strong foundation in music theory. For advanced/intermediate students, I also teach jazz improvisation, if you’re interested! Please bring in the music and songs you want to work on. I believe lessons should be fun and interesting while you learn great stuff, too!

I’m an adult and have no interest in traditional approaches to learning an instrument; I’ve been there, done that and found it not only terribly uninspiring (twinkle little star anyone?) but In every way overly difficult by trying to mix too many skills together at the same time. Before you even have a relationship with and “feel for” your instrument and have the technical skills to play it even half way decently, you’re trying to understand how long to hold a dotted eighth note! This is the reason a lot of people quit playing before they even get started…
Dan knew exactly what I was talking about, met me there and then proceeded to get me to do more in one lesson than I probably would have done in a week on my own, and in the way I want to learn!! He knows how to meet you where you are, find your self prescribed limits and then push you through them! He’s truly skilled in all the ways a teacher needs to be effective with a student!

Piano practice doesn't have to be boring! Stay motivated with these three tips from online piano teacher Crystal B... As far as songs to learn on the ukulele goes, You Are My Sunshine is near the very top of my list to recommend to students. It checks all of the boxes of a good first song to learn: Number 1: It has a very simple and easy to hum melody Number 2: It only has three chords (C Major, F Major, and G Major) in it and is usually played in the key of C (our favorite on Ukulele!) Number 3: It is very recognizable and is somewhat already in our ear, so we don’t have to go in blind and learn it …

How do you sing with vibrato? Find out how to develop your technique in this guest post by Hayward, CA teacher Molly R... One of the main things beginning singers tend to worry about is lack of vibrato. “How do I make it happen?” they ask... sometimes at the first lesson. I usually make it very clear right away that you cannot force vibrato! If you do, you can easily damage your voice or create a very ugly “wobble." Vibrato is something you have to LET happen. Here are so …
