All ages are welcome. I am an experienced musician and educator with a B.M dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance from Berklee College of Music, as well as a Master of Music Theory and Composition Degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University.

I encourage learning with creativity and curiosity, which makes the lessons both fun and productive. I mainly teach voice, piano, music theory and composition lessons for all ages.

Besides these subjects, I also give lessons for ABRSM exam prep, college-bound musician prep, music theory placement exam, music history placement exam, ear training, arranging, orchestration, counterpoint, classical harmony, jazz harmony, Logic Pro, Sibelius and Pro Tools.

Formerly, I taught voice at City Music Mentoring Program in Boston, and worked as a music tutor at Berklee College of Music Learning Center for subjects such as harmony, ear training, arranging and counterpoint. As a music tutor, I was responsible for helping ...

My 6yr old just took his first lesson and is hooked. Gigi is very sweet and stirred up an excitement in him. My son definitely liked the "idea" of learning the piano but is now confidant and actually writing his first song! Who knew, 5 notes and you can become a composer! BRAVO GIGI:)

I have been teaching privately and in colleges/schools for over 15 years. For all levels, I will help you develop excellent technique on the saxophone and build a strong foundation in music theory. For advanced/intermediate students, I also teach jazz improvisation, if you’re interested! Please bring in the music and songs you want to work on. I believe lessons should be fun and interesting while you learn great stuff, too!

About Dan

Hi, I’m a professional tenor and soprano saxophonist. I graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelors in Jazz Performance. I also have an MA in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers University. I enjoy helping students to develop improved technique, sight reading, and musicality

Dan is really a great teacher.. firstly, he’s personable, friendly and creates rapport with the student, By asking your interests he makes the lessons about YOU by accommodating those interests and the WAY you want to learn.

I’m an adult and have no interest in traditional approaches to learning an instrument; I’ve been there, done that and found it not only terribly uninspiring (twinkle little star anyone?) but In every way overly difficult by trying to mix too many skills together at the same time. Before you even have a relationship with and “feel for” your instrument and have the technical skills to play it even half way decently, you’re trying to understand how long to hold a dotted eighth note! This is the reason a lot of people quit playing before they even get started…

Dan knew exactly what I was talking about, met me there and then proceeded to get me to do more in one lesson than I probably would have done in a week on my own, and in the way I want to learn!! He knows how to meet you where you are, find your self prescribed limits and then push you through them! He’s truly skilled in all the ways a teacher needs to be effective with a student!
Johnny
Great lesson, finds your weaknesses and then givesYou exercises so you can work on improving them.

Rhythm guitar, picking patterns and reading notes on the guitar are all taught.

About Kathryn

Kathy believes that variety is the spice of not only life, but also music. Raised singing folk music with a musical family (think accordions, guitars and lots of vocal harmonies), she learned guitar and piano at an early age, but began singing even earlier. Her quest to give the world the best

My experience with Kathy has been great. It's been roughly five months and I learned a lot and I'm also much more confident to sing. Learning the right techniques is crucial. Kathy is extremely patient and she adapts the classes to the student goals and aspirations. English is not my first language and she was also always very respectful and patient in explaining everything twice or maybe three times until I get it.
Kathleen
Kathryn has a terrific demeanor, and provides clear, thoughtful suggestions for technique!

"Mr. Paul is a thoughtful and patient instructor. I never had piano lessons before and he quickly saw my potential. He immediately fostered my interest in music by showing me how to play songs so I could become acclimated to the finger mechanics of the piano. I practiced avidly and my confidence grew as I overcame each new challenge. Currently, I'm learning how to read music and then actually play from sheet music. I'm proud of my progression thus far and it's a true testament to Mr. Paul's expertise and teaching acumen. I personally think he's brilliant. He plays sooo many instruments and he also has a passion for languages. Mr. Paul said music and spoken language are forms of communication that provide beautiful avenues to express yourself. I'm really blessed I found him as an instructor and I highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn how to play an instrument at any level of expertise."

How to Play You Are My Sunshine on the Ukulele

As far as songs to learn on the ukulele goes, You Are My Sunshine is near the very top of my list to recommend to students. It checks all of the boxes of a good first song to learn:  Number 1: It has a very simple and easy to hum melody  Number 2: It only has three chords (C Major, F Major, and G Major) in it and is usually played in the key of C (our favorite on Ukulele!) Number 3: It is very recognizable and is somewhat already in our ear, so we don’t have to go in blind and learn it …

How Do You Sing with Vibrato? Tips for Beginners

How do you sing with vibrato? Find out how to develop your technique in this guest post by Hayward, CA teacher Molly R...   One of the main things beginning singers tend to worry about is lack of vibrato. “How do I make it happen?” they ask... sometimes at the first lesson. I usually make it very clear right away that you cannot force vibrato! If you do, you can easily damage your voice or create a very ugly “wobble." Vibrato is something you have to LET happen. Here are so …
