My 9 year old son just finished 5 lessons with Wilma. He is a brand new piano student. Wilma's gentle style and patience was perfect for him. He already feels more confident about reading notes and playing. I highly recommend Wilma!

My daughter just completed 5 lessons with Wilma. She's wonderful! She took the time to determine my daughter's ability and went from there. She has a gentle but firm nature which worked well for us. Also, her studio is super clean! I would definitely recommend Wilma!

NOTE: I prefer to teach students ages 11 & up.  I will accommodate younger students, but as vocal development is a direct reflection of physical development (the instrument is the body), we will be unable to delve deeply into technique.  Instead, the curriculum for younger students will include musicianship and piano skills; they will be more of music lessons that incorporate singing rather than "vocal" lessons.  My current studio consists of all sorts of singers including classical, musical theater, R&B, and pop.  In classical voice lessons, we will be learning songs not only in English, but also Italian, German, and French. Classical voice lessons may not be for everyone, however, and we will learn repertoire that suits the interests of each student.

I emphasize a basic knowledge of music theory, because it
's important for a singer to not only know how to sing, but to also understand the music he or she is singing. I will incorporate music theory into the lessons, starting with basics such as learning how to read notes.

I believe in making sure the singer is comfortable and confident.  The environment you will be learning in is open and non-threatening because a singer needs a place to explore his or her voice.  I encourage my students to make mistakes and to keep the lines of communication as open as possible.  Singers are perfectionists, and we're constantly telling ourselves what we do wrong- we don't need someone else enforcing that negativity.

I concentrate on a classical vocal technique, with proper posture, efficient breathing, lack of facial and body tension, and healthy vocal production. I believe that it is important to have a strong foundation of healthy technique no matter what style of singing. My teaching style and lesson focus will be different for each individual person, and I'm very flexible in adapting to each singer's needs and personality.

I am a very understanding teacher, and very patient, but I will push you to work to your potential! What you put into these lessons and your practicing is what you will get out of it. I am not strict, but I do expect dedication, passion, and respect. I am a very enthusiastic and energetic teacher, and lessons with me will be fun, productive, and encouraging.

I have been working with Belinda for a little over 2 years. Every lesson, she challenges me to be better than before. What I love most about her style, is she customizes her style of teaching for the student. I am a very imagery oriented person, and she always helps me to visualize things in ways that makes sense to me. Soprano, Chelsea B. made her operatic debut in 2005 in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro."While in Rome Chelsea B. also was featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. She has also been involved in other concert and oratorio works such as Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No.5, Rutter's Requiem, and Mozart's Requiem.

Along with her classical training she has performed in many musicals such as The King and Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and œThe Boyfriend. Chelsea B. is an honored NATS (National Association for the Teachers of Singing) competitor, Peabody Scholarship recipient, and Bland Music Scholarship recipient. Recently, Chelsea B. worked with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra on their spring and summer concert series. When she's not singing, you may find Chelsea B. enjoying a

When teaching beginning piano I often focus on building a good foundation. Lessons are centered on rudiments, basic music theory, and technique. A wide variety of repertoire will be available to each student and will cover many styles and genres.

I value the time I have with my students and expect each student to come prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results only come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.

As a teacher I have had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. Chelsea has worked with my daughter since middle school. Under Chelsea's guidance, my daughter was accepted into a county honors chorus and accepted subsequently into her advanced high school ensembles. Chelsea understands the busy lives of middle & high school students and is very flexible with scheduling. This summer, she has already started working with my daughter on choral pieces for the upcoming school year. I recommend her highly and we look forward to working with her in the years to come.

Chelsea is an awsome, excellent Piano instructor. I am an adult mentee and she is patient and walks me through each step. She dissect each piece in a way that you can come over a new piece easily. I really recommend her as a music instructor for all age spectrum.

Need a teacher who's very knowledgeable, incredibly flexible, and super caring? Chelsea's the one!

When we were looking for a new teacher after our previous teacher moved out of state, I found Chelsea's information online and contacted her. She spent 45 minutes with me, going over my daughter's musical interests and needs, her teaching philosophy and style. She has carried on that same thoughtful approach for the last three years as she has taught my daughter both piano and voice. She tailors her lessons to her particular needs, working on specific concepts that she needs help with or in support of my daughter's goals.

Chelsea has coached my daughter through musical theatre audition pieces, helped her prepare for all-county and Maryland all-state chorus auditions, and tirelessly worked on various piano and vocal techniques. With Chelsea's support, my daughter has been in All-County Chorus for three years and was part of the Maryland All-State Chorus. She recently had a lead role in her school's musical theater production.

Even more important than all of that, Chelsea shares her love of music. She tells stories of her own experiences with auditions and learning music. Chelsea is always supportive and encouraging, sending good wishes on audition day and ready to tackle a new piece with her at a moment's notice.

About Glenn
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At age 14, I auditioned for, and was added to cast of a
network television variety program, "The Gene Carroll Show", that was a television institution for over 30 years in the Midwest. I was a featured performer on that program for over 7 years, all the while perfecting the art of "playing to a camera." This experience was invaluable, and the knowledge I gathered is now included in my curriculum. I also began performing a solo act in the nightclub circuit at the age of 15, performing up and down the "north coast" from Cleveland, OH, (my home), to Erie. PA. At a very young age, I learned the difficult art of choosing musical material and pacing a show; also adapting to performing under a myriad of conditions with a vast array of musical accompaniment. After graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I assembled my own band, and took to the road. That experience eventually brought the act to Las Vegas in 1982. Over the years my show has been a staple in major casino cabarets in Las Vegas, and all over Nevada. Since my first engagement at The Landmark Hotel in the early 1980's, I have literally been up and down the famed Las Vegas Strip many times over. The Desert Inn, The Dunes, The Stardust, The Maxim, The Tropicana, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Bally's, The Flamingo, The Imperial Palace, The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Fremont, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and a three year engagement at The Riviera. My show is truly comprised of musical variety; classics, show tunes, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, country. Even a presentation of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, that I perform in full costume. It is this ability to successfully deliver an extensive repertoire that I am enthusiastic about passing along to the next generation of entertainers.

I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way.
Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Content of Sessions

Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous
week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.

I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and
especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.

I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.

Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.

The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".

I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. Let's get started!

My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge.
Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. My studio is also equipped with piano (for vocal exercises), and guitars, which gives me opportunity to accompany my students when the musical moment is appropriate. Glenn quickly picked up on what our outcome was and coached us in that direction. Many valuable tips and ideas for input was extremely helpful. Hello, and welcome to my page! My philosophy for singing is that a truly great singer is versatile, and that the ideal voice is a flexible instrument that can handle a variety of genres and styles.

My personal training is primarily in classical, and I have a Master's degree in classical voice/opera from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. However, I also actively sing pop, musical theater, and even heavy metal!

Singing can be challenging, and while I work with the student intensely to diagnose and fix vocal issues, it is very important to me that the student feels happy and confident. I encourage students to express their creativity by singing in styles that they feel comfortable with, choosing their own songs, and even adding their own riffs/runs/ornamentations.

I like to place a heavy focus on music theory and sight-singing (I
offer private lessons in these subjects separately as well); It is extremely important for young singers to be able to read the notes on the staff, to understand rhythm and key, and to find pitches on the piano.

I accept beginning-intermediate singers of all ages. I additionally offer music theory, sight-singing, and diction lessons.

Acting – I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I also have quite a bit of experience performing in all those arenas. I have a relationship with one of the best management agencies in the area, so my students get fast-tracked with her.

Voice – Anyone can sing. If you want to and have always thought you couldn't, you will be delighted when I prove you wrong. Training for the voice is pretty much the same, whatever style you are interested in. Then I'll coach you in your chosen style and we'll pick songs you like.

Singing beautifully is not enough. I can't tell you how many times I heard in grad school "beautiful voices are a dime a dozen." I will teach you how to OWN the song. That's what keeps people coming back.

aker I know has lost their voice at some point, but not from talking too much. It's because they don't know how to use their voice properly. Learn that, and you need never lose your voice to over-use. That's easy to teach.

Writing – I have been a professional writer and editor for over eight years, with many books, articles, posts, newsletters, etc. to my name. I use – and teach – practical grammar, not just correct grammar. I can also help you make your words more powerful.

I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

Raised on musical theater through my maternal grandfather, vaudeville orchestra leader, Dave Smason, I was first hooked on Broadway musicals seeing the original cast production of the Music Man in NYC at age 3. the great off Broadway opening of"The Fantasticks" at age 7. It was not unusual for my twin brother, mom and me to belt out our 3 part versions of every recorded Broadway tune from Rogers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Lowe to Gershwin, Sondheim, Jule Styne, and Bernstein at any given moment.
Because there were never enough local productions to perform in, (ie; "Annie Get your Gun" , " The fortune teller" , " How to Succeed....," " Gypsy", " The Mikado", " Once upon a Matress",

Due to my maternal grandfather's work as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of music professionally since my 20's.

Abby is an excellent teacher. She tried her best to help me understand English by providing me examples, explaining detail, revising grammar, and so on. Besides teaching me English, she shared her own experiences with me. She told me how people can get through difficulties.
She is not only a real teacher in English, but also in life.

Abby van Spronsen is an excellent teacher, who has helped me develop my voice and musical style before and during my Conservatory studies. She really takes time for her students and because of her musical background she knows about many different styles, from jazz to pop to musical and even classical music. She knows how to use this knowledge well in her classes and loves to teach, which makes her a very inspiring voice teacher. I have learned a lot during the time that I took classes from Abby.

As an award winning vocalist, I know what it takes to have a great sound and technique. As a trained vocalist from Peabody and Berklee. I am able to teach what I have learned and apply it to a range of voice styles.

I have worked and studied with artist such as Richard Smallwood, Heart, Nona Hendricks, the Baltimore symphony orchestra, to name a few. For years I have worked in professional theatre and education and have taught children and adults alike how to tap into their confidence and bring out the voice they are meant to have.

I want to commend Taylor on being such a well-versed artist/teacher as well as being an amazing individual! while teaching me the guitar and giving me voice lessons she was nothing but kind, patient and understanding. I was very nervous and shy about learning music this late in the game but she made me feel like I was amazing at playing my one guitar note ! I learned so much in such a short period of time and I look forward to learning more from Taylor. Awesome personality, awesome voice, awesome teacher, awesome at what she does. theres nothing else a person could ask for. thank you so much Taylor!

About Derrick
Derrick A. Hewlett is very passionate about sharing his musical gifts with others through performing and teaching. In 2013, Mr. Hewlett was appointed Choral Department Chair for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Orchkids Program. He has also taught Vocal/General Music in the Baltimore City School System from 2011-2014. Hewlett is currently Director of Hewlett’s Music Studio where he teaches piano, voice, and Music composition. In 2011, Mr. Hewlett received the Bachelor of Science in Music from Towson University.

Mr. Hewlett works as a freelance Music Director, pianist and organist in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. In 2008, he conducted the Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore production of “Bent Twig,” a folk opera exploring the struggles of urban life. During the summer of 2007, Mr. Hewlett served as répétiteur for the Bal
timore and Municipal Opera company production of “She Never Lost a Passenger,” an original opera about the life of Harriet Tubman. Hewlett performed with Darin Atwater & the Soulful Symphony Orchestra during their inaugural season in 2005. Since 2004 he has served as music editor and copyist for local composers. In 2003, he was awarded a grand piano, gift of the Governing Members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In 2001, the Education Department of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra awarded him the Charles A. Buerger Scholarship. In the same year, Hewlett served as a music instructor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Camp Allegro, a musical enrichment experience for underprivileged students. He won first place, Classical Vocal at the Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt Competition in 2000, 2002, and 2003 under the tutelage of Mrs. Delores Jones.

For 18 years, Mr. Hewlett has served as music director, organist, and guest conductor at churches of various denominations throughout the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. His church appointments include serving concurrently as Director of Music/Organist On October 31st, 2015, he was privileged to serve as Director of Music for the Vigil Eucharist for the Installation of the Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, 27th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in America. During the preceding summer, he was honored to serve as Director of Music for the 47th National Conference of the Union of Black Episcopalians.

Derrick was absolutely AMAZING! i appreciate someone who really knows what they are doing when it comes to vocal training and providing constructive feedback. Leaving both of my sessions, I felt more prepared and confident for my upcoming auditions. I even loved the notebook he provided me with. While I know how to sight read, it never hurts to refresh on old subjects. Again, amazing and talented coach!

I am a lyric Tenor, Opera singer. I was a vocal coach for a group of people with problems with technic. I mainly focus on Singing technic and Costo-diaphragmatic breathing, vocalization. I can help you in any genre applying the classical technic for singing that most Opera Singers use that let them perform in every genre needed. Due to how tedious teaching of solfeo is, I reserve myself for only to help in technique and tuning.

I Started singing since I was 6 years old. After that my voice turn to an Operatic Style. In 2008 I Joined to a Scenic Program in Mexico where I started singing as part of the voices group in a Theater located in Mexico. In 2011 I started auditioned to a Private Opera Company in Morelos, Mexico where I joined to a great group of Opera singers directed by a Professional Soprano who performs in the National School of Music and who also studied in the National Conservatory of Mexico. I learn mainly about classical singing Technic and breath support. I participated in Operas and many concerts as part of the chorus and soloist. Nowadays I am joining to a many different genres, exploring my voice. I have worked with groups of people and individuals as a vocal coaching, (In
person and even online). I try to help singers to find their right voice and to understand the vocal projection.
I am very glad to help as much as I can to anyone who loves singing and would love to have help from a Classic singer.
