I took painting lessons about 10 years ago and haven’t done anything since. I brought a 1/2 finished painting. Maggie was great helping me set up and seeing where I was and what I remembered. Then showed me some techniques to help get me going. I’m looking forward to our next lesson.

Maggie is a talented instructor. Helped me tremendously with oil paint color mixing and matching.

Maggie is an exceptional teacher who has her classroom management skills down to a tee. It’s amazing to watch her command a classroom full of children while remaining sweet and never losing her cool. She was a great mentor and I learned a lot about art education from her!

Watercolor painting has a way of showing emotion and expression. The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.

Students will be introduced to the color wheel, basic materials needed, perspective, and the differences between realistic and impressionistic painting techniques.

Materials are not included.

Watercolor painting lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.

About Sharron

In my sessions, I am more than a teacher, I am a mentor and a counselor, I promote positive energy for positive outcomes. I am not an Art Therapist. I've thought about becoming an art therapist but I really didn't want to go back to school. However, my resume includes graduating from the Ba

About Deron

I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, Th

Deron is wonderful with my 7 year old granddaughter. Her parents are in the process of divorcing and she is having a hard time with it emotionally. Deron is patient and kind and allows her to direct the lesson with his guidance. She loves drawing and she really looks forward to her her lesson time with Deron.

Deron is an absolute joy to work with. My dude ran off immediately after the lesson to draw some more. Now that's a positive review. :)
Nancy
It was great! Deron had me pick out a subject and send him the image ahead of time. He had it printed out and ready to go when I got there, along with the paint colors, brushes and everything. Very impressed with his organization. He went at just the right speed for me and we actually made good progress. I'm looking forward to the next lesson!

Watercolor has a very special place in my heart because it is most like Scenic painting which was my career for 10 years before I became a teacher. There are some wonderful, quick, techniques you can learn in the first few lessons. If it is your first experience in art, I would recommend a few lessons in drawing or design before continuing. Watercolor is not an easy medium and so I don't recommend it to students with no drawing or design experience, however, a few lessons in these area will help with that.

About Sharon

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I began my working life after college as a scenic artist here in Seattle working for ACT, Seattle Repertory Theatre and the Seattle Opera. While working full time in the theatre I took classes at the Gage Academy which is where I really honed my

Sharon McNeil is a talented instructor. She is able to assist students in retaining crucial information regarding source of light, shadow placement and overall composition. She is skilled at color mixing. In our classes she set up large still life arrangements at the center of the room that were our focus. She provided painting demonstrations that helped put theory into action. A good teacher.

Sharon is a fantastic teacher. She has a great eye for drawing and painting, and helped encourage me when I needed to push my art. I would highly reccomend any aspiring artist take her classes. She is patience, sweet, and incredibly intuitive.
Stephanie Telemaque
My classes with Professor McNeil were amazing. While her courses are not easy, they are extremely rewarding. She has an uncanny ability to make otherwise difficult techniques achievable, easy to understand and fun to practice. While taking her classes, through her way of teaching I wanted to paint more, draw more and felt confident to do it. I cannot dream up a better teacher, she is patient, inspiring, and pushes you to try new techniques in a way that you don't realise until you're practicing them. If you take her classes you'll only want to take more.

I have years of experience working with children aged 4-19, and adults who are anywhere between starting a hobby to perfecting painting techniques. Of course, beginners start with basic techniques, but I like to work toward a completed painting within 1-2 hours, when using acrylics, 1 hour or less with watercolors, or approximately 10 hours with oils, due to the drying time required. Everyone likes to end a lesson with something solid to show their progress.
I paint with acrylics, watercolors, oils, and epoxy resin. I don’t have a preference, as each medium is fantastic in its own way.

About Alicia

So you’re considering painting lessons... Excellent idea! Art lessons encourage you to use your imagination and be creative. They’re a fun activity for parties, a great way to get homeschooled children together for socializing, a fantastic introduction to a lifelong passion, and are wonderful for a

I provide classical instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in your studio or mine. In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills. The program of study begins with a specific focus on drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis will be placed on accuracy, or more specifically, seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space through abstract form and the use of the full range of values.

About Jeff

I'm a graduate of Dean College in Franklin, MA and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I majored in art history and studio art with a focus on portrait painting and illustration. I continued further study at the Andeeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe New Mexico, the Los Angeles Acad
