Can you imagine an actress giving Arabic lessons! Well that’s me. Are you wondering what could make an actress give Arabic lessons? The answer is love. I love that the Arabic language is built up on emotions and is poetic. Through my work as an actress I have to use perfect language as well as perfect skills in delivering the language. Actors in Syria need to have very good Arabic, especially Fusha. Being an Arabic native speaker doesn’t mean that your Fusha is good. My Fusha is good because I’ve always loved reading both novels and poetry, and because I used to write in Arabic newspapers, and beside all of these things, I had the chance to practice my Fusha through my work as an actress.
I started tutoring Arabic four years ago. I teach both Fusha and Syrian dialect for children and adults. Through the years I’ve worked on making my lessons full of fun and energy. My lessons are definitely unconventional with a lot of activities in and out the class. Sometimes I cook Syrian food ...

About Raghad
I am a known Syrian actress, I have a Bachelor degree in acting and I was a teacher's assistant acting in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Syria for six years, that is why I have teaching skills. And with both my teaching skills and love for Arabic language I decided to be an Arabic tutor four years ago. I have a very good experience in Arabic tutoring both in Lebanon and the United States of America.

I arrived to the United States of America recently, and this is a great thing because my Arabic is still fresh and strong. I try my best not to use English during my classes to help students learn as much as they can, and to do so I love my lessons to be challenging but at the same time full of fun and energy. I use my experience as an actress to deliver language in a creative way. while taking a lesson with me you are not only
learning language but also you are learning how to have a perfect pronunciation and to know how to improve your Arabic speech skills.

I give an unconventional Arabic lessons with a lot of activities such as cooking Arabic food with my students, watching Arabic movies and discuss it and many other activities related to Arabic language and culture. With children I use drama games and games in general to make learning Arabic a fun thing to do. I try my best to make my classes full of passion and enthusiasm. I am currently a fellow teacher with GLN (Global Languages Network), GLN is an NGO located in Washington DC. I also give Private Arabic tutor both in Virginia and DC for children and adults.

I chose to tutor Arabic not because it was my specialization at university but because I love Arabic, I really enjoy tutoring Arabic but what makes me continue is my students feed back, and the feeling that they are enjoying my class, and the moment I lose this is the moment when I quit tutoring.

I am a native Lebanese-Arabic speaker having grown up in Lebanon. I have taught numerous students how to read, write, speak, and understand the language. I look forward to working with you on your lingual journey!

About Dunia
I have taught school children and adults during my tutoring career, and it has always been a fruitful experience for both the students and myself. Indeed, imparting my knowledge upon students is always a worthwhile feeling.
Success stories from past students with regard to achieving high marks on their French and Arabic language tests has given me the confidence to believe that anyone is capable of learning a new language.

Dunia was very organized and had a lesson plan for each session that I took with her. We conjugated verbs, worked on conversational French, learned how to count, among other things. She was also very patient with me and let me figure out things by myself without interjecting all the time. I highly recommend her!

I love Arabic language because it's my mother tongue. I'll use s lot of listening techniques. I'll use situations and the dialogues which are used in them. I'll give the child the chance to ask for specific words, phrases or expressions which he or she wants to know in Arabic and keep repeating them till the one can say it smoothly. We will practice sounds of letters, practice writing.

About Nermine
I've been in this field for 16 years now. I'm always anxious to see the outcome of my work. I like to build a relationship with my students so that I have a special influence on them. I always customize the curriculum according to the level of the student so that I'm flexible and go step by step to build a strong foundation which make it easy to go further in learning.

My academic background is in Arabic (both Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian dialect) and I've taught on the university level as a TA and substitute teacher on numerous occasions at Binghamton University. If you're looking to learn to speak, write, and read Arabic as a student or to gain some new skills for your career, I'm here to help!

About Joey
I am an ex-New Yorker living in the DMV area who still hasn't lost his accent. I've played sax since childhood all the way through university, and studied under professional saxophonists and touring musicians. My official academic background is in foreign language, but music has always been a passion of mine, and I'd like to think that I've passed on that eagerness to learn to my sax and language students.

I've been giving informal private lessons to elementary through middle school-aged kids since 2007 if memory serves me. I've worked with some high schoolers and adult learners, just not as many; I'm perfectly comfortable teaching both. I tailor my lessons to the student based not just on age or skill level, but on personality - I distinctly remember what it was like to be forced to play styles of music that I had no interest in, and
wouldn't want to do the same to one of my students! If you like classical, we'll play classical; if you prefer jazz, then jazz it'll be! And if you like both, then more power to you!

I can't wait to meet you and help you achieve your learning goals! We'll make you a regular Charlie Parker in no time.

I'm an adult learner with no musical background and I wanted to learn to read music. I met Joey by chance (not through this site) and started getting private lessons from him at home. Music notation never made sense to me until he started to explain how math-based it is (simple math) and that was kind of an eye opener. He is outgoing and patient and clearly loves helping others.

I've known Joe for a long time and he got my 5-year old son started with music. He's too young to play saxophone obviously but I wanted to get him interested in music in general and to have fun with it. Joe taught him some very basic stuff on a kid's digital piano and now my son can't get enough. Hopefully this will keep him interested in music all the way to high school!
