Learning to play the trumpet is a rewarding experience. Many people think you need to be big and tough to play the trumpet. But it's quite the opposite - it is an instrument requiring precision coordination between the embochure (lips) and the fingers. It's more akin to precision surgury than an athletic competition.
I will help the student develop a good foundation to play the trumpet well. Everyone wants to play loud and high but developing a good sound is crucial before attempting advanced techniques. I will help the student make sure they are developing and progressing in the right direction.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Bobby is one of the rare musicians who is both great at his instrument and also great at teaching. Most lessons started off with a review of the pieces from the previous lesson, areas to improve, followed by new exercises. Bobby was never limited to one technical manual and had numerous exercises and pieces of music at his finger tips to always inspire me. When my motivation was lacking regarding Clarke exercises Bobby even transcribed a few pieces I had chosen that the music did not exist for (Black Eyed Peas on trumpet!!!). Bobby was always on time (early) and completely prepared for the lesson. He knew the hangups with playing the trumpet and how to fix them.
What was even more amazing was I was able to sit in on the lesson before me that Bobby taught to a school aged kid. Bobby was completely adaptive and able to enthuse a kid who was clearly 1/4 my age!
I give Bobby my highest recommendation... something I rarely do."

She is so patient and I have learned so much.
I am looking forward to more lessons.

Svend was a patient and thoughtful teacher. He always encouraged me, even when I had some pretty rough embouchure problems and played very poorly.
We worked together to get me back on course and then Svend concentrated on teaching me to play musically.
Svend understands and can convey all areas of trumpet playing and musicianship. He covers technique, range, endurance, and musicality."

Our 5 year old son has been taking trumpet lessons with Beckie now for 3 months. He has done amazing progress, is eager to practice every day in order to please her, and looks forward to each lesson. Beckie is incredibly encouraging, kind, yet strict enough to keep child's play away from the lesson, and finds ways to make a small child understand the basics of music theory. She balances the lesson nicely between actual playing and theory, never tiring out the student too much with either one. She's reliable, always on time, and communicates very well with both student and parents about any wishes we may have. She makes our son feel special, and he is very sad having to leave her, as we are moving out of the country this summer. His own words being: "Isn't it sad that I'll have to stop my lessons with Beckie, now that we've just gotten started - I really like the way she teaches."
All this to say... we warmly recommend her, and regret having to stop lessons with her. And that we encourage anybody, adult or child wanting to learn the trumpet (or any other instrument Beckie teaches!) to use her services!"

He's a great instructor!"

Sometimes I listen in on their session, and what I hear is an instructor who is patient and finds creative ways to teach."
