As every student is unique my teaching style really depends on the student! Some want to learn for fun, others are studying for exams or college. As a result its really important for me to tailor my lessons towards each student and what they would like to work on. For some that could mean working on vocal technique, others working on music and repertoire. I’m adept at adapting to each student’s individual talents and vocal needs and therefore its important that for that each student progresses at a pace that they are comfortable with.

I've been singing as long as I've been going to church.
My beginnings in the Children's, Men, Gospel, and Senior-Adult

Choirs. D.C. Youth Chorale was an amazing experience for learning the art of harmony, ear training was a natural part of the study.
We were taught to read music as well as leaning everything by rot. A term used in church meaning learning by memory to the heart. (without the music sheets)

About Raycurt

In as short as one semester, Dr. Griffeath has helped my voice tremendously. He genuinely cares about his students and works hard to understand how each one learns.
Whitney
Dr. R is a very talented vocalist who has a strong background in Alexander Technique. Combining the two makes a very sympathetic and understanding mentor. He can hear all of your tensions, including the ones you aren’t aware of. His style of teaching is a very natural approach and he will not ask you to do anything that hurts or pushes you too far. What stands out the most is his determination. He is determined to help you grow. I am very lucky to have him as an on staff professor.
Andrew
Dr. Griffeath is very approachable and highly knowledgeable. He has a great, in-depth understanding of voice and helps one to understand the processes behind every action taken in vocal lessons. He cares greatly about students’ progress, well-being, and enjoyment of the instrument. Highly recommended.

"Michelle is fantastic!! She led my 10-year old through her first ever singing lesson less than 3 months ago to nailing it on stage as Princess Fiona in Shrek this weekend. Michelle gave my daughter the skills, techniques and the confidence to do it, and her performance rocked the house. We are so grateful to have found Michelle, and have the opportunity to benefit from her boundless energy and passion for music!"

"After reviewing instructor profiles, we rolled the dice (trusted our gut), and selected Elise to give private instruction to our 10-year-old daughter. I am so glad we took the risk! Elise is kind, patient, and encouraging, yet structured, prepared, and skilled. Our daughter was struggling with confidence and attempting to imitate other singers, rather than learning basic techniques to bring out the best quality of her voice. Time with Elise has been worth the investment as our daughter is maturing in her attitude and diligence about practicing. I would highly recommend Elise as an instructor for any age."
