Private Singing Teacher
I've been teaching chorus and doing private voice lessons for almost 10 years. For the past years, my students in private singing lessons have gained a basic understanding of vocal anatomy and become more skilled in correct breathing technique, moving between vocal registers and producing balanced tone. I usually select an age appropriate song for my students to learn for each session, and each skill the students learned during the lessons will be applied to the singing of that song.

While the foundation for all styles of singing is essentially the same, I specialize in teaching contemporary styles (as opposed to classical singing). Contemporary styles such as rock, pop, blues, gospel, country, jazz and Latin have very different styling than classical singing and as such once correct basic vocal technique is established it should be taught very differently than traditional classical singing. I'll help you get power, more range (to be able to sing higher and lower) pitch control (to sing mor ein tune), better tone, more musicality and versatility through a combination of exercises and learning the songs that you love.

Lessons begin with stretching, vocal warm ups, scales, and extensive breath work, as well as resolving any tensions that may be hindering your vocal production. I then through collaboration with the student, work on beginning repertoire that is suited for the voice, and challenging at the same time. I record all lessons, and email them to the student so that one has the opportunity to review the warm ups, and hear the improvement in the voice, I also write a review of every lesson, with notated warm-ups and a list of "To Do's" for the week so that the student will have a structured practice week. I provide music, and if needed recordings of the pieces so that the student can take the materials back to their homes and practice them on their own.

My Singing lessons are deeply rooted in a passion for music and the joy that singing brings. I train from the ground-up with my students, and it is simultaneously a ton of fun and hard work. Obtaining a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from New York University really added to my extensive knowledge of Vocal Anatomy, Music Theory, and Repertoire. I want all of my students to feel vocally liberated and to maintain excellent vocal health, a priority in my lessons. If you are as driven and motivated to improve your singing as you believe, I am so excited to be the person that leads you to success!
