With one to one instruction, you'll learn to play chords, scales, note reading, tablature, finger picking, strum patterns and improvisation. Within just a few lessons, students will begin learning how to play their favorite songs, including, "Somewhere over the Rainbow" ," I'm Yours", "Hey Soul Sister" and many more. Also, students will learn how to play various styles of music like, Blues, Pop, Classical and Rock.

I've been teaching ukulele for 5 years and love seeing my students discover their own musicality and style through ukulele! I specialize in teaching school-age kids, teens, adult beginners, and secondary instrument learners.

As a ukulele beginner, you’ll learn to keep your strumming steady while changing between 2-5 basic chords within a few lessons. You will find in just a few lessons that the songs you know and love are actually accessible and playable! With continued practice, you’ll start to create your own songs using the chords you know, and you will learn more complex chords, transposing, and reading melodies on the staff.

I'll make your lessons meaningful to you, by creating many of my own visual aids to meet your level and interests. We will blend your favorite modern genres with “classic” and “classical” tunes, and explore composition and songwriting along the way! For students who have played an instrument prior to our lessons, I try and shape a curriculum entirely based upon the specific goals of the student, and I rarely use text books although I use a lot of exercises and educational material when appropriate.  I feel learning to play and transcribe songs and solos to increase a students self reliance and confidence is my most important job.  

Most students come to me looking for structure so I try and provide a clear path to their goals. For students with no prior musical experience I use text books and exercises to strengthen their technique, expose them to musical ideas, and give them a foundation for basic theory.  After that is accomplished I move into a curriculum that is more personal to their specific goals.

Ukulele is the perfect stringed instrument to start out on for all ages. With only four strings you can be playing songs from day one. I'd highly recommend anyone wanting to play a stringed instrument to start with the Ukulele.
