I have been a vocal coach for many years and am passionate about helping my students reach new levels in clarity, range, stage presence and any other vocal strength they wish to acquire!

Ms. S. has a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Eastern Michigan University and is certified Level III in the Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method. She has also trained in Estill Voice through the University of Michigan, with additional training in the Feldenkrais Method of movement. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She will tailor your vocal development to your individual performance goals.

Singing is a complex coordination of breathing, phonation, resonation and articulation, overlaid with musical and performance layers. This process needs to be guided by an instructor who is knowledgeable in the vocal processes and anatomy, as well vocal styles and performance. I have been teaching and singing professionally for 10 years and hold a Master of Music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy. My teaching philosophy centers on healthy vocal technique grounded in proper breath support and vocal placement. I believe that once this is established, the principles can be applied to any genre of music you wish to sing! Classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop, you name it! I want my students to be proud of their unique vocal capabilities and have the confidence to share it whenever they step on stage.

I have been a teacher for the last 10 years and a musician all my life. I have experience with all ages and abilities; learning styles and interests. Singing is one of the most intimate forms of self-expression so we focus first on creating a safe space and student-teacher relationship. Together, we will identify student goals and interests and identify appropriate, healthy singing habits and musicianship as our focus. I believe student engagement and participation in what and how we learn is vital for success. While I have a lesson structure that we begin with, it does not always fit every students learning style and needs. I spend a lot of time thinking about how to best support students individual growth. My hope is that each student feels empowered and supported to have their own voice heard.

I have been teaching singing for over 22 years, using my unique "Yoga for the Voice" technique to students ages 4-90 at all levels. My students have sung on national television shows (X Factor, etc.), the Grand Ole Opry, for Motown, for touring professional bands, and for professional musical theater. "Yoga for the Voice" combines my studies in classical singing with yoga breathing and many other effective singing techniques from my studies with the top voice coaches in the world.
