I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.

I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

I have been teaching guitar to all ages and all abilities for 5 plus years. I will adapt to whatever level and need met your needs.
I have experience teaching all genres from Rock and Roll to Bluegrass to Classical.

I will give you the skills to become a musician by teaching you how to play, read, and write music!

Guitar is my primary instrument and I can teach it in a variety of styles and with a variety of techniques. I'm comfortable playing with a pick or my fingers and playing in genres from Bluegrass to rock to jazz.

I also teach various forms of slide guitar:
Slide (Bottleneck) for the standard guitar, Lap-style Dobro (Open G Tuning), Lap Steel Non-Pedal 6 String Electric Guitar (C6 Tuning), and 10 String Pedal Steel Guitar (E9 Tuning).

I love bluegrass. My special interests range from Merle Travis, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Tony Rice but also include newer groups like the Punch Brothers and Allison Krauss.
