Transcend the instrument and be able to play with anything. Learn your favorite tunes by ear and on the guitar. That is what I focus on. From beginning rudiments all the way through completely breaking down and conceptualizing the fretboard.

I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.

I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

I offer Intermediate and Advanced Guitar Lessons for electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. I have over 20 years playing and songwriting experience, including live shows, recordings, and tours; I've been lead guitarist for the metal band Locusta since 2006. I've been teaching guitar for 14 years and have had thousands of hours of teaching experience in that time.

Lessons are available on advanced topics such as music theory, songwriting, lead guitar technique, sweep picking, and classical guitar (i.e. Bach/Spanish guitar), as well as non-guitar specific subjects like home and studio recording, ear training, rhythm, and drum programming (no drum experience necessary). Personalized lessons are offered as well as structured 4 to 8 week courses on specific subjects.

I mainly specialize in rock and metal but enjoy listening to and teaching classical, jazz, (old)country, blues, funk, or almost any other kind of music. I play in a death metal band and my favorite guitar players range ...

Enough about me! We all know that everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. My process is to analyze each student's unique abilities and to create a personalized learning experience for everyone. I have taught people from 5 to 83. I believe it is important to be empathetic to each person's needs, for example, I have experience teaching left-handed people, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's syndrome, people with missing fingers and other difficulties. Parents always ask me how I can be so patient with their kids, (the real secret is that I don't have to take them home ;) but on a serious note, I always remember the extreme amount of frustrating hours I put in before I got any real results. Guitar lessons with me are unique because although I am young, I am a very experienced teacher already. I started learning guitar at 10 years old. By the time I was 16 I was gigging and teaching kids in my neighborhood and any Craigslist clients I could find. At 18, I took a 1.5 year program at the Los Angeles College of Music, where I graduated with an AA in guitar performance. Since then I have worked as a professional musician, and also as a teacher /consultant with Adopt the Arts, a non profit started by Matt Sorum (drummer of Guns N Roses, Hollywood Vampires) and director Abby Berman. In my time at Adopt the Arts I have amassed over 4000 teaching hours of teaching kids ages 4-13, so I am very experienced with kids and get along with them great since. I have also been giving other private lessons to people of all ages since 2011.
