Acting students will receive instruction customized for their individual needs and skill level, drawing on a variety of techniques, including Linklater (physical and vocal work), Stanislavski, Meisner, and Grotowski, Shurtleff, among others. I am a professional singer, songwriter and actor working in the Chicago area for many years. I have a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003: I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, a unique and supportive venue for singer's to become more comfortable performing before an audience. I also instruct workshops for vocal technique and performance. For 10 years I was the lead singer for The Red Apples, an acoustic/electric roots band that performed an eclectic mix of rock, swing, blues, country and jazz. Within the past year I have re-energized my theater and cabaret career, appearing at Davenport's Cabaret, in a new solo show, as well as productions at Big Noise Theater and Stage 773. I've also completed tw
o short films and started working on my own web series, about my life as a singer/voice teacher. I also have an art song project consisting of original material with composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski. As a singer and actress I have performed with many major theaters in the Chicago area, including Court Theater, Victory Gardens, National Jewish Theater, Bailiwick Theater, and Prop Theater.
*** Lesson Details *** As a classically trained singer I will instruct you in all aspects of singing technique, from breath control and support to improving your tone, range, flexibility and resonance. I have recently completed training in Somatic Voicework, The LoVetri Method, which has enriched my understanding of the mechanics and health of the voice, as well as applications of technique to CCM or contemporary musical styles of singing. My familiarity with a variety of musical styles from pop/rock, R&B, and country, to musical theater, lounge and jazz makes me an ideal teacher for those interested in contemporary styles.
I have spent many years developing my own style of singing and instruction. I draw on my experiences and training not only in music, but theater and movement, (Linklater, Alexander Technique, Grotowski) to create a well rounded approach to singing and performing. As an instructor, I am most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style. I teach students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. I also am very interested in helping students deal with the mental/emotional aspects of performance, an all important area so frequently ignored by music teachers. My style is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good-natured humor."
*** Studio Equipment *** My studio space is fully equipped with a piano, P.A. system with microphones, CD, MP3 player for tracks, and ability to record lessons if the student desires.
*** Travel Equipment *** Please have a piano (in tune!) or keyboard for use in your in home lessons.
*** Specialties *** I am classically trained, but I am very adept at teaching music in a wide variety of styles, including most contemporary styles of music including pop/rock, roots, swing, jazz and blues, country, r&b, and of course musical theater and cabaret. My band performs an eclectic mix of originals and covers in the roots rock genre, and I write music as well. I have many years of experience in the theater as an actress, and I coach acting technique and performance. I coach singer/songwriters, and all types of singers, of all ages. I have a workshop that specializes in helping people learn to perform better in front of an audience, and I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, which is a supportive opportunity to perform regularly! I also coach bands, to improve their vocals, harmonies, etc.
I couldn’t recommend Wendy enough. No matter what walk of life you come from, she’ll find a way to connect with you and help you reach your goal. I’m already seeing improvements and can’t wait to go back every week.

Very helpful and focused on what needed to be worked on. Will definitely be looking forward to working with her again!
From Shakespeare to modern plays,, I help the actor to channel their connection with the character. As well to help nervousness, remember their lines, blocking ideas, etc...
I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I hold a Bachelors from Musicians Institute and other accomplished degrees from American Musical Dramatic Academy to conclude my quest for vocal excellence and the ability to sing in multiple languages ( English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian) I have been lucky enough to study with some of the top teachers in the country and now I bring the experience I have gained directly to you!
I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted into prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities an
d hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach/Trainer and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.
I will make sure my students have fun and help them get in the right track to their musical goals.
Also, I constantly upload videos on Singing, The Spanish Language, and Japanese! So keep Checking in! It ranges on tips and answering the most common questions on those particular subjects!
Also There are discounted rates for worship teams and church choirs. For more information please contact me through the "Ask a Question feature"
*** Lesson Details *** I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them. then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!
I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals. With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.
*** Studio Equipment *** iMac, condensing mic...performing mic, keyboard, mixer...living room of apartment.
*** Travel Equipment *** I do have a portable keyboard. Though I do expect the student to have their own recording device and karaoke tracks. At Home I do have a studio, and if the students has an iPod or an Mp3 player I can attach it to a device where all of us can hear the tracks. I do have a recording studio as well.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also, It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also, I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the Vocal Cords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

I would absolutely recommend Rosita because I think she has the bestSpanish course for medical Spanish. It’s everything that you need without having to go through a bunch of unrelated Spanish vocabulary. I don’t really need to know how to order a meal, I want to find out how I can help my patient. I need to be able to communicate with my patients and understand what they’re saying back. It’s nice to have something so perfect for our profession. And I think that it’s also nice because it’s an interactive lesson. The training course is pretty easily accessible and you can go back and look up lessons and refresh what you need to look at.
I believe the development and training of an artist is a special, sacred, and important act.
If you would like to find more truth, more humor, and more joy in your work as an actor or performing artist, then I would be privileged to help you along that journey!
As a teacher I have taught around the country at universities as a guest artist and faculty member, as well as with performing arts centers from coast to coast. As a practicing artist, I am continually researching new and updated methods and find this passion translates into my lessons with my students.
I believe in positive reinforcement and building upon a student's current skill set, rather than tearing an actor to pieces, in order to bring about the most effective results, all the while finding JOY in the work!
I have performed as an actor, singer, and musician Off-Broadway in New York, on many National tours, and at regional theatres all across the United States. I find this varied experience allows me to

He has written music and served as musical director for many productions, including: RICHARD III (AST), TWELFTH NIGHT (AST/SOTL), KING LEAR (AST), BOTTOM’S DREAM (AST), TAMING OF THE SHREW (AST), DOCTOR FAUSTUS (Sonoma Valley Shakespeare Company).

Favorite recent credits include: Harold Hill in THE MUSIC MAN (Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre), Ferdinand in THE TEMPEST (American Shakespeare Center), and Jay and his alter ego Clair de Lune in MARE IN THE MEN’S ROOM (Off-Broadway).
One of the best teachers I have ever had! Chad creates an environment that makes you feel really comfortable with exploring yourself as an actor. Not to mention that fact that he is so kind and genuine. I know I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed!

I have worked with probably 4 dozen acting instructors, coaches, directors in my life, and Chad is the BEST OF THE BEST.
Through several years of working with him, I can vouch that with him you always know what you get: 100% quality, all of the time. He is fully present, meets you on eye level, is kind and understanding, and encourages/motivates you to go beyond what you thought was possible.
Whether it is audition prep, Shakespeare scene work, or general acting skills, there is nobody I would trust more than Chad to help me be the best actor I can possibly be.
Most importantly, with Chad I have always felt completely safe to explore characters, inner movements, and feelings in the process.
The only bad thing I can say about Chad is that he will absolutely ruin you for the next coach or director that comes along, since no one can come even close to his quality.

Chad is incredible at making you feel very comfortable while also challenging you to go beyond what you believe you can do. In every environment that I have worked with him, he has been kind, generous and inspiring. I would recommend him to anyone (young, old, beginner, advanced) in a heart beat. It has changed my life and my career to have learned from him.

*** Specialties *** I specialize in Jazz voice, improvisation (scatting) and Broadway singing. I am also trained in Acting.
I have always been an actor first, it is the craft and discipline in which I hold my advanced degrees; it is my first and eternal love. There really isn't much more one could add to such a claim. Simultaneously I have believed a teacher is born, not bred; and I was born to be in theatre, and now, with a few years behind me; I'm ready to pass on what I have learned. At the risk of tooting my own horn; I am well trained, professionally, both as an actor and a teacher with more than a few credentials to support those claims. I invite you to please peruse my background on the site and feel free to ask any questions you desire.
Regarding Texas Hold 'em (poker), I have been playing and teaching the game, and working for online casinos for over thirty years. My approach is simple, requires extreme discipline, but I can show you how to win mo
re than you lose. And this is true of all subjects I teach whether literal or figurative.
My undergraduate Bachelors is in Acting & Directing I was taught by the same professors who launched the students that formed the now famous Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago (Illinois State University); I also have a Masters degree in Theatre History and Criticism (Theatrical Critical Theory). I have teaching experience both as a GA and in the private sector. I have been exposed to many different types of teaching styles and locales, (i.e. classroom, studio et.al). I hope that gives you a thumbnail concurrently I hope I didn't bore you to death.
Randy is a first rate coach. He is knowledgeable, experienced, and with an easy going natural style. Was very adaptable to my level of experience and was patient - no question was too dumb. I highly recommend him without any reservation. I have already booked my next session.

What drives me to wake up every day, is to supply actors with a safe space to grow and learn trusted actor tools and resources. I want to foster, the lessons I've been taught and learned, and help the actor change their path and careers. I love meeting new artists, collaborating, and getting results.

Hi! I am a theatre director and teaching artist from Washington, DC. I have worked in theatre education for the past ten years and I am currently pursing my MA in Theatre Education at Emerson College. I believe that theatre has the ability to change lives and love getting the opportunity to work a variety of experience levels. In DC I directed high school and middle school actors and received many accolades along the way! You can find an interview with Tams Witmark about one of my favorite productions of HAIR.

With younger students we can focus on creative play by using our imaginations to create stories and working on improvisational skills. Theatre is a great tool to help build confidence and work on social skills as well as public speaking. I can even help your younger student with an upcoming audition!

"Great teacher and excellent motivator. I have been taking lessons for a few weeks now and am very pleased with Tyler's work."
"Shauna gives me her full attention, focus and knowledge when working with me. She is very passionate about her work and has been immensly helpful to me.
She asks me to come prepared and ready to work, so if you are looking for a teacher who will let you slack...that is not Shauna! Her instruction has given me greater skills and confidence. And she is immensly enjoyable to work with. I HIGHLY reccomend her."
"I had just met Chad briefly before we started working together. I will never forget working with him. He listens to your thoughts and needs and maintains
an open line of communication all throughout his teaching process.
As an instructor, he won't stop until anywhere short of what he believes you are capable of as an actor, so when you work with him be prepared to be pushed to your potential."
"Barry is a gifted and talented individual who urges his students to step out the box. If you ever receive and opportunity to work with Barry understand yo
u'll be put to a challenge and be expected to challenge yourself. I was able to experience and learn many things in Theater acting, Speaking voice, Singing and Music theory and I could never be more grateful for everything he passed on to me as knowledge ."
"I was so worried about auditioning for a lead role in The Sound of Music. Hannah was a tremendous help by teaching me not only to show emotion in my voice
and mannerism but to match that same expression in my body language. Her constructive criticism and guidance helps me to achieve the role of Liesel Von Trapp! Thank you so much!!"
"Julia is amazing! She is so knowledgeable, kind, supportive, and a wonderful person to work with. I've learned so much about acting and how to really delv

"Great first lesson!"
"Jessie was a great teacher. She made my daughter feel really comfortable and connected with her very well. She helped my daughter get prepared for an audi
