I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

Heather was wonderful in getting me back into the piano! As an older student I was apprehensive at first, but she was very positive and made me very comfortable. She was very helpful and brought me a long way in a short period of time.

I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old! I love to work with beginner students and give them the tools to be a great piano musician. It's also very energizing for me to work with intermediate students to hone your skills. I focus on proper technique, basic music theory, and a wide variety of repetoire, all while having fun together! I cant wait to help you learn to play.

I typically begin students on the Alfred Music Library, and then move to more classical repetoire, supplementing with pieces or genres that the student has interest in!

Typical lessons will include warm ups (scales, arpeggios, other techniques to warm up the fingers), working on repetoire (may include folk songs, broadway/disney, pop, worship), music theory (note and rest values, key and time signatures, interval recognition, ear training, note recognition, etc.)

Materials that students will need are a piano/keyboard of their own, two lesson/recital books recommended by me, and a theory book.

About Brittany

Brittany is an accomplished soprano vocalist with much experience in performing.Brittany has two years of college vocal training. Brittany sings in the Allegro Christmas Choir. She also loves to lead worship. She loves working with students to help them gain confidence in performing in auditions,

Brittany is a talented, patient musician. I am a 50+ year old woman that took lessons many years ago and started up again with Brittany last summer. I instantly felt comfortable with her, and am not only learning about notes, and fingering but also about theory. She's awesome & I'm learning so much.

Although, it was my Daughter’s first lesson, it went well. I was able to hear her follow the notes. It was an awesome experience.

She was great! I'm excited for more lessons with her!

As a piano teacher, I teach Premiere and Adult Levels out of Alfred’s Piano Library Books Series and Levels 1-4 from Bastein Piano Basics, ages 5 years old-Adult. I invented a music theory game called Match that teaches and reinforces music theory and vocabulary as well as notation in less than half the normal time. "Only one 1/2 hour lesson so far - so I'm hesitant (but nearly willing) to give Randy a "best instructor ever" rating (which is how 5-stars is categorized here). But I'm thinking the 5-stars will come very shortly. I'm VERY encouraged with that short introductory session - we covered many things in the limited time and at this point I am confident Randy is heading me down the path I'd hoped for with my music journey after decades of neglect on my part."
