I love playing and teaching this awesome instrument, and I'm so excited to share that with you. I strive to make lessons engaging, positive, progress-oriented, and personalized. My teaching style is as slow as you need, as fast as you can go. Technique should always serve music, so we'll focus on creating art and telling the story that you want to tell.

Lessons are open to anyone; even if you don’t have a cello yet! I have worked with beginning students learning the basics of reading music to advanced players & colleagues looking for a careful ear. For learners under 10, I recommend 30-45 minutes. For all other players, there's no time limit; I love to go into details and can work as long as you want! For multiple lessons a week, discount packages are available. Congratulations on taking an amazing first step into learning the cello, and I look forward to meeting you in our first lesson.

My 12 year old son has been taking lessons with Claire online for a couple of months. He had been playing a few years in school but never had an individual lesson. She is helping him create some new habits while improving his technique and musicianship. She is very encouraging and supportive (and fun!). Looking forward to seeing how he progresses in the future!

I am an emotive cellist with two decades experience. As a member of the Park Quartet (the quartet in residence at Park Church) I recently performed at the 100th anniversary of McGolrick Park. I love sharing classical music with all levels of students. Lessons with me are calm, meditative experiences where we use Zen techniques to enter into the heart of music.

About Lenna

Hello musicians! My name is Lenna and I am pleased to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2011 and have loved helping my students improve their tone, learn better sight reading skills, and become more relaxed in performance. I have toured the world as a singer songwriter and before t

Someone I trust recommended Lenna to me for a cello teacher - I am an adult beginner and I really knew nothing at all about how to play or read music.
Lenna was the most patient, understanding and fun teacher I could have asked for. She understood what I needed and got me from barely able to hold the bow to playing Rigoletto in front of a small audience in 6 months! THAT is no small feat. She loves playing, she loves teaching and she understands the human condition. A very good combination indeed. I highly recommend you hire her as your cello teacher, or your child's cello teacher, or your next door neighbor's cello teacher.

Lenna is a terrific cello teacher! I feel lucky to have found her through this site. I was starting from zero with the cello and she was able to guide me through the Suzuki book to be able to play some songs -- even sight-reading. While I have a long way to go, I appreciate her focus and dedication to improving my playing skills. Highly recommended!

Lenna is out of this world! When I first undertook, as an adult beginner, to learn the cello, I often found myself frustrated by the challenge. Lenna changed the way I approach my studies. She taught me to FEEL music, to find the beauty in slowing down and repeating, to have patience with my practice and to appreciate my progress. She has improved my rhythm, vibrato, sound quality, knowledge of music theory and more. She is always gentle and supportive during our lessons and approaches learning with a humility I only wish I could have. She likes to end lessons by guiding her students through a few minutes of improv, which I deeply enjoy. A talented cellist (and musician generally); a wonderful instructor; and a kind, supportive, optimistic personality. I love working with Lenna and strongly recommend her.

They work on pieces from upcoming school concerts or add-on pieces that Megan selects. The one-on-one sessions have made a big difference! (She's now 1st chair!) Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
