I am a classically-trained and educated Cellist with deep experience playing with Symphony Orchestra’s, Chamber Orchestra’s, Ensemble’s, Quartets, and Solo. I am currently working at Loudoun symphony orchestra and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

I'm a recent grad of University of Michigan, where I received both my bachelors and masters degrees in cello performance with Anthony Elliott and Richard Aaron, respectively. I've spent years honing my craft and I'm excited to share with you everything I've learned!
My teaching style is a blend of all the teaching philosophies that I've encountered over the years. I emphasize good technique and a holistic approach to cello playing, as I believe those two are the foundation to building musicality. However, I believe the ultimate goal is to simply instill a love for music into my students and to encourage them to have fun. I look forward to making music with you soon!

Isaiah is a passionate instructor and brings his love of the cello and performance to students of all ages and backgrounds. Ensuring that each of his students receives a highly individualized learning experience, Isaiah spends a great deal of time creating unique plans of study for each pupil. He strives to make lessons engaging, fast-paced, and exciting. Isaiah has worked for several non-profit arts organizations, youth orchestras, and school systems teaching the cello, all the while maintaining a sizable private cello studio. He has taken advanced coursework in music pedagogy, teaching artistry, and Alexander Technique, incorporating modern techniques as well as practices from the rich history of cello tutelage into his teaching methods. Signing up for private lessons is both an investment and a commitment. Isaiah works hard to make this investment as worthwhile, exciting, convenient, and affordable as possible.

I have been studding strings from age 8, starting on violin. I switched over to cello when I turned 13 and received scholarships to potentially attend the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. I instead studied cello at the University of California, Santa Barbara where I had the opportunity to perform in the university's symphonic orchestra and teach private lessons to college students as well. I have experience teaching from the Suzuki method, but consider myself to be a flexible educator and teach many methods according to the needs of the student.

It's the best instrument, right? No matter where you are as a cellist, I'm happy to meet you right there and help you achieve your goals. Together we can explore new repertoire, work on sound production and intonation, and develop an arsenal of different expressive nuances. You'll be able to pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity you desire; I am as happy to work with beginners in casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions.
