I have my Master's Degree in piano performance. I am an experienced teacher(30 years) as I taught at the Settlement schools in Philadelphia with all levels and backgrounds for 16 years. Some students were extremely talented.
I have had my own studio in my home since 1999.
I'm also great with beginners and intermediate students.
I love teaching, so it really doesn't matter what level the student has attained.

About Sharon

I'm a classically trained pianist. I graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance in 1985. I then went on to Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where I earned my Masters degree in Piano Performance in 1987. Beginning in 1987 I taught at the S

What I enjoy most about the piano is=

The opportunity to show my students what sounds and ideas they can create from the piano; sounds that are uniquely their own; sounds that have meaning and purpose and are full of their own emotions. That is the most rewarding part of teaching.

Also= As a musician who takes great care of his body with a wide range of physical activities and has studied the human body thoroughly, I'm very adamant that piano playing requires tremendous physical dexterity and bodily control, not just knowledge of the music alone.

Point= My overall approach to piano lessons simply put is: How do we form the closest bond between "Us" and the "Instrument"?

So how do we achieve this.

I do this by training the student's hands & body to move in the way they were designed by nature to move.

I fully understand music theory, chords, scales, and rhythm and I will teach you everything I know about them. Point= So does every cookie-cutter piano teacher.

"Michelle has proven herself to be knowledgeable and helpful in facilitating my return to flute playing after a hiatus of a few years. As an individual having already completed a bachelors and masters degree in flute performance I was looking for someone nearby with the skill, education, and performance experience to help whip me back into shape. Michelle has been able to help me identify and strategize realistic performance goals that take into consideration both my extensive background and my need to re-enter music performance in a low-key way that balances my desire to use music as a creative outlet with having limited time as a parent and professional in a field outside of music. Michelle has given constructive feedback and guidance in using standard flute literature, etudes, and other technical exercises to facilitate me in regaining proper technique and tone production. It has also been a joy to play duets with Michelle and have the chance to practice intonation, musicality, and playing with a high quality musician, as music is meant to be played and shared with others. Having the opportunity to build musicianship in this way with an individual of her caliber has proven beneficial."

"My girl loves music. She has a great ear, timing and perfect pitch. Hence, I bought her a piano and she's been taking lessons from Fawn for a few months now. She's even practicing without being threatened or forced to. And now she is making something that sounds like music, professional music. It's its own reward. I like Fawn's style of teaching and so does my child. So I've got nothing but good things to say! Fawn is a superior coach and even though lessons are a sacrifice for this working single mom, I'm grateful to have found Fawn who keeps my child motivated, fascinated, happy, content and filled with the joy of music!"

"Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%."

"I have never had online lessons before, and I was really worried that it wasn't going to work. However, Fawn exceeding my expectations. She made me feel so comfortable, which made it that much easier to be myself.

At the age of six, I started taking lessons. I ended up staying with that vocal coach until the age of 21, when she told me that I needed to find a more advanced vocal coach. I found someone who was really good, but I didn't feel that I was going anywhere with her. After my 1st lesson with Fawn, I said to myself, "Bingo! Someone who knows her stuff, knows what I need to do to be successful and will be there to help me do so." Thank you Fawn!! :)

I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's hasn't even been 24 hours, and I'm already looking forward to our next lesson. Thank you Fawn!! :)"

Is Piano the BEST Instrument to Play? Sound Off!

We came across this interesting article from MyDreamTeacher.com and just had to share!  Here's a taste of the reasons the author thinks the piano is the best instrument out there: 1) It has more notes. The piano keyboard represents every note available on other instruments.  There is no instrument that has a note that the piano does not have.  This reason alone gives a strong case for everyone to play piano. 2) What you hit is what you get. The piano produces the most immediate results …
