I went on to attend and graduate from Christian Heritage College (now called San Diego Christian College) with a Bachelors Degree in Music and Business. I am now the Director of the Music Department at San Diego Young Artists Music Academy. I direct two youth and children choirs, a male chorus and a great adult choir. I also sing with the Voices of Prayze who travel with Jason Mraz from time to time. As a singer, pianist and as a teacher, I specialize in Gospel piano & vocal technique and repertoire. Allison's dedication to teaching is obvious from the moment you start with her. As someone with a lot of trouble sticking with the more tedious parts of practice, her consistency and energy did volumes for my attitude and ability to stay on track. Outside of teaching percussion and musical performances I have worked in special education for over 15 years.

My life of music started knee high at the age of 4 playing drums and piano. At the age of 15 I gave my first musical performance, from that stage on I knew my talent had found a home.

In the 11th grade I toured with a local funk group in Washington DC through 26 cities learning music and the life of travel at an early age. During my last high school and college years I performed extensively playing classical, jazz, rock, funk, go-go, gospel, marching band, R&B, and with local rap artist.

Recording credits and highlights include work with Def Jam artist Steady Eddy, recording go-go Mario with Double Agent Rock, and recordings with Little Benny and the Masters.

My other musical passion is teaching. Throughout my col
lege years and beyond I served as a percussion instructor and assistant band director at Morgan State University. As part of the Morgan State University Magnificent Marching Machine I served as a instructional leader in music and performance mentor for the team. I taught part time as a percussion instructor at Milford Mill High School giving individual lessons for over 10 years.

Musical inspiration is an important element to the refinement of my craft. A few personal musical influences are Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Neil Peart (Rush), Dennis Chambers, (Santana), George Gray (Roberta Flack), Ricky Wellman (Miles Davis), Quinton Mack-Davis (Rare Essence) and Michael Bland (Prince).

Within the first three months of lessons student will gain a strong foundation of sight reading and basic drum techniques in both rudiment studies and playing the drum set. My style of teaching music consist of breaking each skill down into chunks and allowing students to learn using their individual learning styles. I utilize rewards for perfect practice and each lesson contains a safe, fun learning atmosphere with students exhibiting in their best behavior.

Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%.

I am a South-american violinist and violin-music teacher who loves music, dancing, arts, nature, and animals. I am a social, kind, caring, persevere and self-disciplined person.

I started teaching 9 years ago when I was studying my Bachelor'€™s degree. In my country, I was the teacher of 25 lovely children and youth, with whom I created my own violin studio. It started only with 3 students, and after 7 years we were a wonderful group that performed in different recitals, festivals and trips around our country. Together we learned about violin, classical music, popular music, folk music, singing, etc., but most importantly we learned about sensitivity, sharing, self-discipline, respect, creativity and many other personal skills that music helps us learn in such a joyful way.

In Boston, while doing my masters, I also had the oppo
rtunity to teach two children in English with new methods I was learning in my string pedagogy course. In addition, I have taught adults and elderly (70-72) to play the violin, and find their smiles and learning process more than satisfying. Finally, I was the music teacher in a kinder garden, and had students from 2 to 4 years old. I like to teach people with different ages because I learn from them and their different needs.

I have also had some few students with different abilities such as Down syndrome, Asperger's syndrome and Dwarfism. I cannot say I am an expert but I am open to learn from these students if I have a good orientation and support from the parents and specialists.

Right now, after finishing my Master'€™s degree in Boston, I am living in Chicago because my husband is studying his PhD at Northwestern University. I miss teaching and sharing my love for music with others, that is why I really want to find new students that want to join me in their musical journey.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe every person is talented and can learn music. I think that the best way to learn music and arts is from the experience, where the person can develop not only music and instrumental skills, but also creativity, originality, joy and love for music. These are skills that are needed to enjoy and learn music, but also to be a more sensitive and rounded person. My goal is to build a professional and positive environment where the person can develop his/her musical abilities as well as his/her personal skills. In order to achieve this goal, it it usually better to have the lessons in my own studio instead of the student's house. That way we can work with a complete music environment and the student can benefit 100% from the music experience.

I have learned in the process that regular practice and a consistent schedule encourages not only progress but great motivation. Also, I have found that a experience-based approach helps them keep motivated because the students learn much faster and gain a deeper musical intuition than with a theoretical and approach.

I think it is important to give the students the time to talk and share their thoughts about the music. I like to guide them discovering how their bodies feel more comfortable with the instrument, instead of telling them the "correct form". I like to make them clap, sing, move and feel the music before telling them how to play it. I like to introduce music theory and reading from the beginning encouraging them to use their knowledge about music.

In addition, I have found that following the literature of more traditional methods with scales and etudes, helps the students to develop completely in their instruments, with a great technical foundation. That is why I like to mix experience-based methods such as Suzuki, Kodaly and Dalcroze, with traditional books such as Essential Elements, Wolfhart, Kreutzer, etc.

I usually start with Suzuki, The Blue Book, and some personal material that I create for each student depending on their needs. After a while, I start to introduce some pieces of different parts of the world or different styles while introducing scales and etudes. This way I maintain the student's motivation and give them a broader view of music, while developing important skills for their instrument. Then, when the student is ready, I introduce more difficult pieces and solo repertoire.

For adults, I try to adapt my method to their particular goal in music, giving them both fun and the best level they want to achieve. I give them material that is adequate to their needs and also to their preferences.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have several materials for children and adults. Music cards, music games, toys, puppets, etc.
I also have books to start our journey.However, the student will have to buy his/her own books once we start.
I own one 4/4 violin that could be rented for a tall or adult student. I also own a 3/4 violin for rent.
Smaller violins would have to be rented or bought.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can travel to the student's house with my instrument if it is within my travel limits (5 miles) and if it is accessible via public transportation.

*** Specialties ***
- Suzuki method mixed with some traditional books and world
music.
- Experience with Alexander Technique, Dalcroze, and Kodaly.
These methods deal with music freedom and tension free
techniques.
- Music performance work with professional musicians and
conservatory student (effective practice, musicianship, tensions,

Out of all teachers and Gleb is the expert in so many ways teaching and applying the lessons to stick and to create a great Saxaphone player. He has so many techniques in his arsenal to make any student become a Saxaphone player and a good one. I was given homework last week. Came back today & nailed it! That's what he said. Still a long way from being a singer(my opinion). I'm still nervous & in my box but at least my box is open now. Ron's so great at what he does, he could make the sun freeze. After 20+ yrs of not being able to sing & only 3 lessons with Ron I can sing a Sandi Patty song then you know Ron's the man to call if you want to learn to sing. He'll make it happen!...Piece of advice, relax ;)

Ryan Cheung is a classical violinist from Hong Kong and currently pursuing his bachelor degree in Violin Performance and Music Education at Azusa Pacific University.

Ryan began studying piano at the age of five and started receiving violin lessons at the age of six. In 2012, Ryan received the recital Diploma ‘Associate Trinity College London’ (ATCL) in violin with distinction. Great teacher. He was my music theory tutor, and I was able to skip past two college theory courses within about a week of hour-long tutoring sessions.

From my experience, he works with what you have: he finds your strengths and helps you to learn based on how he believes you'll best receive new information or inspiration. He is able to communicate concepts in many different ways, and always makes sure you understand. He is not long-winded, but communicates the necessary information in a way that is straight-to-the-point, and does not waste time giving his students "busy work," but instead gives them exercises that are directly or indirectly helpful every time. He is a patient teacher, and does not make you feel like you will be left behind. He passionate about teaching and his students, and he does a great job at teaching.
