I teach from the earliest beginner through adult. My violin students are currently performing for different schools and ensembles. When students are performing with orchestras, much time is spent working on that music as well as their regular music.

About Diane
I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area as well as SAA-Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. I give my students opportunities to perform whenever there is an opportunity. In addition I work with students to earn music scholarships to private school
s and colleges. I am also a judge in the Young Artist Award in Maryland. In addition, I have received two White House awards for my performances at the White House, I am also a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.

Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.

*** Lesson Details ***
I treat each student as an individual since everyone is different. For some I might use a traditional approach, some just the Suzuki approach and others a combination of techniques. Whatever produces the best results. My goal is not to make strictly classical musicians but to train students to love music and carry this love throughout life. My repertoire consists of everything including traditional, Suzuki, Disney, Showtunes, etc. I have taken students to perform little concerts at the White House, schools, hospitals and concert halls to get the real feel of performing. I view lessons as a three way relationship between myself, the student and the parent so that the parent is not left out. I even have a small group called Musical Magic which incorporates magic into music. I feel I am laid back but am able to accomplish my goal through positive reinforcement. Every child or student wants to feel good about his/her playing. If you believe in yourself, anything is possible. If you want online lessons, please contact me through Take Lessons since I have additional availability to teach online. In the past six months my students have performed for the National Humane Society at their animal ball, a multi teacher recital on a local stage, and just two weeks ago seven of them performed at Strathmore. This summer I have two more concerts planned. Coming up will be an all instrument graduation with several other teachers where students receive medals for their performances. No student is required to perform but if they want to the opportunity is there. All students are required to have an instrument prior to beginning lessons. If students need to rent a violin, I will provide you with the name of a violin dealer that both rents and sells string instruments. Piano students must have a piano or keyboard.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach at home and have both a grand piano and electric keyboard in addition to a harp and violin.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When my students have to travel to perform, I make sure they have everything they need.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki approaches for both violin and piano. I also teach children with learning disabilities.and have extensive summer programs to help students with auditions for youth orchestras and school orchestras.

Ms. Diane is the most amazing instructor. She has been successfully teaching my daughter both violin and piano online for two years now. Ms. Diane is knowledgeable, reliable, flexible and one of the kindest music instructors our family has had the good fortune and pleasure to learn from. We are also lucky to only live about 40 minutes away, so we also get to see Ms. Diane for an in home lesson on occasion. Our daughter looks forward to her weekly lesson with Ms. Diane and plans to continue learning from Ms. Diane for many years to come. If you are looking for a music instructor with such qualities, Ms. Diane is truly worth your time and consideration for both online and in home instruction. If I could give her more than 5 stars I certainly would. Thank you Ms. Diane for everything!!

I would have described how 'passionate' Gabbi is about violin but unfortunately never had that opportunity. I had scheduled the class 10 days in advance and on the day of the class Gabbi decided to shoot an email couple hours before saying she can't make it.
A dollar is minute is a very decent compensation which I don't make as an engineer with 7 years of college education. But unfortunately that didn't inspire enough professionalism in Gabbi. Maybe she reserves her professionalism for few people and not for everyone.

Gabby is a great violin teacher. She customizes her lessons to your needs, and she encourages and gives great pointers throughout the lesson. My daughter leaves her lessons with so much more knowledge and hints - than when she came with to the lesson. I have seen her improve greatly in her playing in just a few lessons.

Combining my classical training (Bachelor's degree) and teaching experience, I have become an effective violin teacher for learners of all ages. My students have been highly successful (state orchestras, competitions, etc), but most importantly, they love the violin and have a deep motivation to improve their skills.

About Annie
I graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Music and Communication in 2013. Then I earned M.S. in educational studies: ESOL at Johns Hopkins while working full time as a public school teacher in Baltimore. At Highlandtown Elementary Middle School, I was the Strings Program Director with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids. I recently graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Education Policy and Management.

At Boston College, I served as the concertmaster for the symphonic orchestra, tutored music theory and violin, and coached chamber ensemble groups. I also co-founded a music outreach organization where BC students provided music education for a local elementary school without a viable music curriculum.
I absolutely love working with children in every aspect, especially music. I've been teaching privately for about
7 years now and my students have become accomplished violinists! I focus on making violin fun and awarding to allow children to appreciate music and to challenge themselves to a higher rigor. I individualize and differentiate all of my lessons to ensure effectiveness.

About Selena
I offer beginner to advanced violin lessons for all ages. I have gotten to perform in many different ensembles and styles. This allows me to adapt to students' interests. Having taught privately for over a decade now (has it really been that long?), I have developed many ways of explaining specific concepts since one student may understand it perfectly if explained differently than how another student grasped it. The violin has been a constant and enriching presence throughout my life, and I enjoy helping people engage with this instrument that is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. No matter your age or level of expertise, I would be happy to help you along as you discover new musical territory. I’m most fluent in the classical style, but am happy to explore other areas with you as well, from bluegrass to Broadway.

About Kris
I have been teaching the violin to students of all ages and abilities for close to twenty years, and have had great satisfaction in seeing them all grow and develop over time. Some of my younger students have gone on to the Interlochen Arts Camp, and one of my former adult students still makes an annual summer pilgrimage to a chamber music festival in Ullapool, Scotland. Whatever your interest or ambition, I would be more than happy to help you along your way.

In addition to teaching, I am currently a member of the Delaware and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras, a former member of the Huntsville, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and have performed as a substitute violinist with the Virginia Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Maryland Symphony, and National Philharmonic Orchestras. I hold a BM in violin from George Mason University.

I have played music for over 30 years. I have taught privately for 15 years. I am certified as a public school music teacher. I have a doctorate degree in education.

I teach not because I have to, but because I want to. I love music, and want to share that knowledge with others. I find joy in helping others succceed!

I cater my lessons to each student’s needs, and create a weekly plan to help them. My philosophy is that its not how long you practice, its how well you practice. I teach you the correct way to practice.

I have experience working with both adults and children. I also teach violin.

About Isaac
Music has always been my life’s passion! I am a violinist, pianist, and vocalist. I started playing violin when I was 3. My father and uncle were orchestral conductors, so music was the family business. I went to school as a music education major on a full music scholarship, and I also have a masters and doctorate degree in education. I come from Texas, where I taught private lessons for 14 years and had award-winning, public school choral and orchestral programs for 10. (Recordings of my group are available upon request!)

As a soloist I have performed internationally and have worked with world-renowned conductors. The highlight of my career was performing two solos for the Pope in front of a crowd of 250,000 people!

My lessons are structured to address your needs as a student. I take pride in creating learning programs catered to yo
ur individual needs as a student.

I strive to make every lesson fun and meaningful. My joy comes from watching others grow, learn and love music as much as I do!
