About Katelyn
How I Can Help You:

I have worked one on one with music students for 10 years. I have extensive experience in teaching classical, musical theater, and pop styles of singing, as well as acting for the stage and beginning piano.

Whether you are a beginner, or a veteran musician, I can help you cultivate your musical skills.

About Me:

I am a classically trained singer, with a master's degree in music from The Peabody Institute. I have performed at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Tanglewood Music Center, several local and national opera companies, and have been positively reviewed in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Baltimore Sun, and The Boston Globe.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each student receives a personalized lesson plan, based on his/her goals, and musical background.

My singers are all trained in a cla
ssical technique, even if they specialize in contemporary singing, to help them avoid potential vocal injury.

My piano students learn to read and play music at their own pace.

My acting and spoken voice students learn to feel comfortable reading clearly, and reciting/performing on stage or other public areas.

My music theory students work one on one with me, learning basic theory (note names, durations, etc.) to advanced theory, ear training, and composition.

I am flexible and am willing to work with students of any age and level. I only require that students practice and enjoy the music they make.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room in home with seating for parents.

*** Specialties ***
I am a classical singer, and specialize in classical voice training. However, I also have extensive experience in other singing styles, from choral to popular, and acting/oratory. I have a minor in music theory, and have taken advanced courses in music theory pedagogy.

I am born and have grown up Deaf. I regularly communicate in American Sign Language (ASL).

During my time at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), I weekly met a few students and helped them with their ASL courses. I signed words and sentences to these students when they asked me questions.

After I have graduated from RIT, I have worked at two federal agencies for three years. At one of these federal agencies, I have participated in ASL courses by one-on-one signing words and sentences to tutees and by having these tutees copy these words and sentences in ASL.

I can provide ASL lessons in the alphabet, common signs, visual description, classifiers, sentence structure, facial expression, body language, specialized signs, and ethical or professional relationships with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people. In addition these le
ssons, I can explain how signs and sentence structure form.

About Ashleigh
I'm a former Spanish teacher who has taught taught levels 1-IV for the last 4 years. Prior to that, I lived in Germany as a military spouse where I taught yoga. Before Germany, I taught Spanish for two years at a private boarding school in Raleigh, North Carolina. My first teaching position, however, was in Granada, Spain where I taught English at a rural school near Granada, Spain having won a fellowship after university graduation.
Although my bachelors is in Spanish Language and Literature I am studying TESOL at American University where I have completed 12 credits in language assessment, second language acquisition and linguistics. My classes are engaging and personalized. For my athlete students, I find articles and clips about their sport that we build language around. I do the same for the interests of my other students, ther
eby making their connection to the language personal and intrinsic. In our tutoring sessions, there will be music, video and games! Because I am a teacher, I can help you liaise with your student's teacher in a way that will help us understand how to help your student.

About Iris
As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I help people of different ages and ethnicity to live healthier and more productive lives for their own wellness.

When we take care care of our health and wellness in all aspects (physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually), the quality of life increases. Therefore, one is more at ease, lives with a sense of purpose and overall contentment and serenity. In return, you mirror this to those around you, whom you can also assist and guide into leading a more productive and happier life.

In terms of teaching English, personally knowing another language other than English, I understand the challenges in learning a new language in terms of reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Being TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages/Teaching English as a Foreign Langu
age) certified, my method of teaching is student-centered: there is much interaction between myself and the student vs student just listening to what I am teaching.

My classes are simple, fun and full of patience. Homework is given as it is important to practice what has been taught during the class, to assist the brain in recollection and learning the new words, grammar, tenses, etc.

Feel free to send me any questions you may have regarding my teaching style and methods.

Looking forward to helping you learn English as your secondary, third or more language.....immerse yourself with the language and have fun while learning!
