Profile
I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

Heather was wonderful in getting me back into the piano! As an older student I was apprehensive at first, but she was very positive and made me very comfortable. She was very helpful and brought me a long way in a short period of time.

As someone who knows nothing about music production. Vaughn helped me have a better understanding of my 3rd party plugins as well as plugins within my DAW. He is freakishly knowledgeable on the topic.

"Kathryn’s dedication to making sure I’m getting to practice not only what is necessary skills-wise, but also what interests me is invaluable. I really feel like she is genuinely interested in supporting me in my goal to play better. It’s also extremely helpful when she finds clever ways of explaining a new concept that I may not understand at first. Plus, I can tell she really knows what she’s talking about whenever I have a question. Highly recommend!"

"Mark is helping our children become disciplined, confident pianists. Prior to beginning lessons with Mark, our two children would advance from song to song but they weren't maximizing the learning opportunities inherent in their music. Mark has helped them learn to use the metronome as a tool (but not a crutch), enhanced their understanding of theory, focused them on dynamics and all around made them better musicians. He has done this with an emphasis on making the kids feel a sense of accomplishment which drives their motivation."

"Awesome teacher!

Edwin is a great teacher. He was very patient and encouraging from the start. He has a great knowledge of different styles of music and from day one i was already learning some of my favorite songs that before i could only dream of playing. He breaks down the structure of the song very well so that i can understand what im playing which made the learning stress-free. Would highly recommend to all ages and experience!"

"Thank you Randy

Randy is my piano teacher. But to say that I merely take piano lessons with him would be an understatement. His title should probably also include inspiring mentor and compassionate friend. His positive energy and hilarious, kind spirit are contagious. He will forever change the way you listen to and feel sounds. He not only helped me creatively express the music inside of me in a way no teacher has before, but even more importantly, he's helped me find my voice and welcome joy and gratitude back into my life. So if you're ready to let go of your nerves and your ego and step into his studio to explore the music that is within you, then this unforgettable experience awaits. :)"

5 Little-Known Factors That Affect Your Piano Posture

Proper piano posture: the words alone are enough to make any pianist wince, straighten up, and make every effort to maintain it, at least for a few minutes. You may not realize that when you’re playing the piano, your posture is a key factor in your technique and whether or not you feel at ease practicing the instrument. Because practicing is a repetitive activity, it’s important to do it well. Otherwise, you risk reinforcing bad habits through repetition. If you struggle with ma …
