Taking Electric Bass Guitar lessons with Dan Brown, has been a great experience. Dan listened to my goals and tailored the lessons around my ability and musical influences. His classes are well structured, but also relaxed. Dan has incredible knowledge of the Bass and has encouraged me in all styles of play including slap Bass. I have no hesitation in recommending Dan to anyone interested in learning Bass.

Good experience definitely would recommend! Encouraging teacher who is committed to helping you learn what you want to learn.

Daniel covered all the basics of playing the double bass very clearly and extended the lesson a little to allow me to work on a couple of songs,

With my instruction, we'll aim to explore and hopefully master true harmonic and rhythmic support within an ensemble. I will focus deeply on pocket, vibe, accuracy, musicality, non cerebral expression, and most importantly, the art of being an in demand solid-as-a-rock bass player. We will work music theory, warm ups, learn and analyze essential bass lines, bass line composition, learn songs we love and more.

About Joel

My biggest asset as a teacher is that i'm also (and probably more importantly) an in demand, working bass player in Los Angeles. I play gigs of all sizes locally and throughout the world and also participate in major network recording sessions for both film and television. Most recently, I played b

In the few months I've been studying with Joel, my bass playing has totally transformed. I had experience as a guitarist, but wanted to delve into the idiosyncrasies of bass playing so I could craft better parts for recording projects. Joel has helped me refine my technique, broaden my understanding of harmony in popular music, and develop a deep, authentic pocket. Now I'm playing bass like a bassist; not a guitarist (there's a big difference)!

I’m a professional drummer who has been taking bass lessons with Joel for the last year. I’m so grateful to be taking lessons with a professional bassist who is actually working in the industry! He’s a great guy and has a wealth of inside information on what it takes to be a touring and recording bassist. I’d recommend Joel to students of all ages levels. Thank you, Joel!
Jonathan
Joel is such an amazing teacher! He knows so much about the bass and has excellent taste in music. I had so much fun learning more about how to groove better and improve my tone. I look forward to more lessons with him in the future!

Very professional during lessons, relaxed energy, specific with explaining concepts. Would recommend for anyone looking to improve musicianship.

Phil is a fantastic instructor. I am a beginner bass player, interested in learning rock and roll style music. Phil has been able to not only teach me all the classic songs that I love, but also improve my understanding of music theory in the process. In addition to this, Phil is very knowledgeable when it comes to recording music and playing in a live band, and he has shared many insights and personal experiences that have helped inspire me to keep pushing even when I am struggling with a simple bass part. I have seen major improvement in my playing ever since I started working with Phil. I would highly recommend Phil to students of all ages and levels: he is the ultimate professional, and on top of that a stand up guy!

"My favorite night of the week is what I call "guitar night," and it is my favorite because Ahmad is the best teacher I've had in just about anything (sorry, erstwhile college professors). The bass guitar can be intimidating, especially if you've put it off until your 30s like this gal. Ahmad makes the whole thing cake.. . I was playing a song by my second lesson. When I am occasionally downtrodden by what I feel like is the futility of a guitar in my grubby, fat hands, Ahmad, like a sensei, helps build me back up, developing my skill and pointing out what is, in fact, a burgeoning talent. It takes time. It takes practice. And I feel lucky to have chosen Ahmad as my instructor for his easy nature, graciousness, and what you can tell is a true love for the guitar that is infectious. Put it this way: I feel like there isn't anybody he can't teach. Even my significant other has remarked upon the tremendous progress I have made and the increasing confidence in my playing. It's a pleasure to be his student. I might even say an honor."

"Having taken guitar lessons as a kid myself I know the importance of having a patient passionate teacher Dr. Vincent possesses all those qualities and more. A qualified teacher, with a PhD, who knows his stuff but is also able to break down his vast knowledge into bits that even a middle schooler could understand. My son is excelling at his base guitar thanks to Dr. Vincent and is developing a love for his instrument I hadn't expected."

"I had played bass for a few years, and decided I wanted to take lessons when I felt stuck. It was fun, but I didn't really have a focus on bass I was excited about. I found that with Kellen. He really focused on rhythm and grooving with the drummer and I got hooked. I highly recommend him, especially if you need to work on your groove!"

"Not being a complete beginner, I sought David's instruction to improve my skill set. I really enjoyed the way David breaks down complicated topics into manageable components that I can drill in between lessons. I was mostly a metal head but through exploration, David also opened me up to the idea of Jazz and improvisation. As a bonus, we had some really good functional programming conversations as well. He is also a talented Scala engineer."

"Incredibly knowledgeable and versatile, yet perfectly personable, Theresa has been an absolute treasure of a teacher. From the very start, she has made the extra effort to relate our lessons to my particular musical interests and aspirations, while also just being tremendously fun to talk to. If she weren't the best music teacher I'd had the privilege of working with (which she certainly is), I'd probably still recommend her for the repartee alone."
