I am an accomplished vocal coach and songwriter and currently work with a wide variety of singers from young beginners to professionals who look to develop through ear training, singing and songwriting. In a unique way I guide people to become better performers and musicians through the combination of voice, piano and composition. I also work with pianists and guitarists to help them use their instruments for better singing and ear training.
About Robert
Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs

Hi, I am Valdis! My motto is "teach as you have been taught". This is how belcanto school survived until nowadays. I spent 17 years of my life studying and singing in Italy before moving to the US. In my opinion, there are two main teachers in every singer's life: the singer himself and the stage. My goal is to teach how to listen to yourself giving the right tools in order to make a singer independent and professionally auto sufficient. Simplicity and naturalness are the keys: these are the principles applied when I was learning and I am trying to continue this tradition without any alteration.
I am a professional opera singer with more than 60 roles in my repertoire (mostly principal). I performed in more than 70 theaters in more than 20 countries: La Scala di Milano, Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Theater an der Wien, Spoleto Festival USA and many others.
I have a master's degree from Conservatorio Boito di Parma, Italy. Currently, I am pursuing a DMA ...

Music Lessons should be fun!
Finding the right Piano or Voice Instructor will shape the way a student feels about music. When we make music we share a vulnerable and very unique part of ourselves. As a teacher, I strive to encourage, inspire and create an atmosphere for learning that is uniquely different for each of my students. My teaching style focuses on important skills but also emphasizes self-exploration and perhaps discovering a passion for something new. Take a look at the lessons I provide and choose the right one for you.

I teach voice beginner-professional, which includes classical repertoire and technique as well as Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Standards, Country, RnB,...you name it. The best part is that you will learn to sing in a manner that will not damage your instrument and in fact will work to fortify your instrument.
Things to expect in a voice lesson:
- I will not provide any materials
- A majority of practice/rehearsal will take place outside of class time
- If you do not practice, outside of our lesson you will not see any improvements

- Lessons are light and fun if the work is done in a timely fashion
- You will be given an appropriate level of works to begin you performance portfolio

Hear From TakeLessons Singing Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

My daughter gave me a TakeLessons.com gift certificate at Christmas for what she thought were guitar lessons but I took singing/voice lessons instead (I don't really read music but I've always thought I could sing a little!). I've only had a few lessons, but so far Keely's been great. I was up front about never singing before and she was right on the money with starting me with basic breathing exercises. Just signed up for more lessons and I'm really looking forward to actually seeing if I hold a tune or not!!"

Unless you're a career-chorister, the concept of sight reading music is probably going to at best make you slightly nervous, and at worst paralyze you with fright. However, at some point, probably when you join a choir or perhaps go to an audition, you're going to have to face that hurdle. Sight reading comes easier to some singers than others, but it's not some mythical task akin to retrieving a golden fleece; sight-reading, even for the more able, is a learned skill, and there are several sig …
