The violin has been a constant and enriching presence throughout my life, and I enjoy helping people engage with this instrument that is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. No matter your age or level of expertise, I would be happy to help you along as you discover new musical territory. I’m most fluent in the classical style, but am happy to explore other areas with you as well, from bluegrass to Broadway.

About Kris

I have been teaching the violin to students of all ages and abilities for close to twenty years, and have had great satisfaction in seeing them all grow and develop over time. Some of my younger students have gone on to the Interlochen Arts Camp, and one of my former adult students still makes an

Evan's a fantastic teacher and I can't recommend him enough. I was a professionally trained pianist who was also badly taught some violin on the side and although I've been out of practice for years, Evan has gotten me back up to speed with my musical abilities in such a short amount of time. I've cycled through a number of music instructors in the past and Evan is the most patient teacher I've ever had. I get easily frustrated and he helps me work through the areas I get stuck on regardless of how many tries it takes. It's very apparent through his teaching that appreciation of the music is a priority. He's also flexible about rescheduling and cancellations, and I've enjoyed my lessons so much that finding the personal motivation to stay on top of my progress is never an issue when something comes up and a class has to be cancelled or postponed. Evan is both a superb musician and instructor and given a lot of my bad experiences in the music sphere in the past, he's done an amazing job of helping restore my appreciation and love for the art.

Evan is a very gifted teacher. Since I started beginner lessons with him a few months ago, he has been able to teach me the complex techniques required for proper playing quickly and effectively while advancing my knowledge of music theory with his calm and encouraging teaching methods. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in lessons!
Eric
All-around wonderful violin teacher! Evan has always been encouraging (and patient!) and made every lesson an enjoyable experience. I've decided to pick up the violin after a very long hiatus and at almost 30 years old - Evan provided a great game plan for me to begin reading music again as well as valuable exercises to improve my form. I'm looking forward to keeping up my violin studies with Evan and know that I've enjoyed my time (and improved my playing ability!) because of his instruction and guidance. I'd highly recommend Evan to any player - young or old - looking to pick up violin for the first time or to further hone their musical abilities.

Ray is an amazing teacher. My 11-year-old has high-functioning autism and has a great interest in learning music. I was hesitant to hire just any teacher, as many teachers don't have the patience and understanding to work with special needs kids. However, Ray has been not only patient, but he has an exceptional way of teaching my son in a way that he would understand and retain the information. Ray is creative, intuitive, and experienced. My son is very happy and enjoys the lesson every single time. Thanks Ray.

"Stephanie is extraordinary!

I never gave it any thought that it would be possible to learn such a complex instrument via Skype. To find someone as professionally trained as her is very challenging in of itself, but to have someone of her caliber teach my daughter from many miles away in the comfort of our home is truly amazing! Stephanie was very patient, observant, extremely knowledgeable and a talented teacher. It is quite a luxury to have the opportunity to work with her. I'd recommend her highly. If you are hesitant to try her online lessons I would suggest you at least give it a chance; you will be pleasantly surprised."

She is extremely knowledgeable in every instrument she teaches and in vocals. "My son has been learning violin lessons from Jonathan since the summer of 2014 when he was 10. We are so fortunate to find Jonathan at takelessons.com and very happy and grateful to have him as a private tutor throughout the years. Jonathan is a brilliant musician and passionate violinist, very professional. He is really good at teaching, very patient and detailed. Whenever my son made a mistake, he would immediately point it out and show him the right way to do it and have him practice time and time again until he got it right. He would also write notes on my son’s music sheet to remind him things he needs to pay attention to during his practice at home. Jonathan also organizes recitals regularly for all his students to gather together and play in a concert like atmosphere and interact and learn from each other, which is really a wonderful experience. Jonathan can be reached easily by text message, email or phone and we have never run into any problem rescheduling a lesson or anything else. I highly recommend Jonathan for anyone who wants to learn violin or music in general."

I only have the best to say about Charlene's abilities as a thoughtful, attentive, proactive, discerning, creative teacher. She loves what she does, which showed in my son's attitude about attending lessons and his continued passion for music and string instruments 20 years later."

My 5 year old LOVES him. Mr. Lacey communicates well with his students. He uses positive reinforcement, but makes it a point to teach that students take ownership. My grandson has only been taking lessons for a couple of months, and is already playing several songs on the violin. I would totally recommend Mr. Lacey to anyone interested in learning an instrument."
