Melody is delighted to help children embark on their musical adventure, with a teaching method that caters to their individual needs.

Melody is a wonderful piano teacher. She taught my daughter for 2 months before she moved. My daughter learned several pieces of music which she performed at the recital. It was her first recital and she was nervous but Melody encouraged her and gave her the confidence to perform!

I highly recommend Miss Melody as a piano and voice teacher for young children. She is very well respected. Her passion in teaching music is shown through her enthusiasm and patient approach. She has developed a program and teaching techniques that are always age and skill level appropriate. She encourages her students throughout the lesson, providing just the right amount of urging to keep trying and not give up. Her goal is to let the student enjoy and appreciate the art of playing and singing. My daughter has taken both the piano and voice lessons for 2 years and our family has joined 3 music recitals, all professionally done and very well prepared. As she moves to DC, it is my great pleasure to recommend Miss Melody and I am so happy to tell you what a wonderful, caring and talented teacher she is that you won't be disappointed. Your children will look forward to their time with her. You sure will be learning from one of the best!

I enrolled my 8 year old grand daughter and 10 year old grandson for piano and singing during their family visit with us, which lasted two weeks. Each of them had eight lessons in total and for that span of time they have learned how to read notes and count patiently. They also learned to play other instruments such as maracas, chimes, etc. It was so nice of Ms Melody to be able to conduct a studio mini recital just for the two of them. It is really amazing how my grandkids has learned so much from her. When I found out she is moving, I knew it will be hard to find somebody like her who is not just a very good teacher, but you can tell that she loves the kids and teaching comes very easy for her. Thank you Ms Melody for your good heart. As other reviewer said she will be missed, surely she will. I remember my grand daughter’s exact words when we left after their last lesson, ”Ms Melody is really very nice grandma. I like her so much!”

I had a terrible experience with the first teacher so Chanel was a wonderful change. She was totally prepared, helped teach me how to read music (it will take a while), she had a booklet for me with my "homework" book, my notebook, cancellation terms, etc. Very professional, organized, and friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend her anytime!

Ms. Chanel has a great personality, bubbly and energetic, makes you feel at home and comfortable in her environment. She's patient and takes her time with you. I am truly excited at the levels she will take me with my vocals. The breathing exercise assignments is helping me also in the way I project my voice. I love the focus she gives when given you instructions. My first experience was fun and Awesome. Can't wait for my next lesson.

What I enjoy most about teaching piano is:

The opportunity to transform the piano into much more than a box with buttons that sits collecting dust day after day in millions of homes around the world, but rather an instrument capable of communicating every type of human emotion in limitless ways, that is, if our physical bodies are up to the task.

Let me explain=

As a musician who takes excellent care of his health and wellness through a wide-range of physical activities and sound (pun intended) nutrition, I'm a firm believer that playing the piano requires tremendous physical control, dexterity, and poise.

This notion is consistently proven true again and again when I give lessons to children and adults who are engaged in sports and other athletic/physical training outside of studying music.

Because they are in good shape, they can demand much more from their bodies, which instantly heightens their overall musicianship and individual artistic expression.

About John
What I enjoy most about teaching piano:

The opportunity to transform the piano into more than a box with black and white buttons, but rather, a device capable of communicating every human emotion in limitless ways, that is, if our physical bodies are up to the task.

Let me explain:

As a musician who takes great care of his health through a wide-range of physical activities and sound (pun intended) nutrition, I'm a firm believer that playing the piano requires tremendous physical control, dexterity, and poise.

This notion is constantly proven true again and again when I give lessons to children and adults who are engaged in sports or any other physical training outside of studying music. Because they are in good shape, they can demand much more from their bodies. This instantly heightens their overall musicianship and individua
l artistic expression.

My approach to piano lessons simply put is: How do we form as close a physical bond as possible between the instrument and student? In terms of piano, I acheive this goal by training the student's hands to move; in the best way; in the right way; in the most healthiest way; in an athletic way.

Now, you *do not* have to be an athlete to see results. My point is= I take an athletic position in terms of teaching piano.

I fully understand music theory, chords, scales and rhythm. So does every other teacher.

What other teachers *do not know* is: How to teach students of any age how best to move at the piano.

This specifically is what seperates me from 99 percent of piano teachers.

Overall point= If we did not have a body with which to move, we would not be able to make any music at all. So on a fundamental level, your body is the first thing that needs to be trained when learning a new instrument.

Many piano teachers begin teaching you how to read music before you actually learn how to play. I work backwards. My goal is to get you playing, so that when you start reading music, it makes more sense! I want to teach you to play piano in a way that is not dry and boring. YOU SHOULD HAVE FUN! Also, don't you want to improvise? I'll never understand how some people have had piano lessons for years and years and can't play Happy Birthday without sheet music. With 15+ years of experience tickling the ivories, and 4 years of working as a professional music educator, my methods get you enjoying the feeling of playing with freedom. :]

About D'Andrew
Feel like you're stuck in a rut with your piano playing?
There are probably hundreds of songs that you want to learn to play on piano, and you're probably using outdated methods to learn to play them without even knowing it! That's why I'm here, so you can discover an entirely different way of learning how to play the piano. Don't spend another seven years learning how to play happy birthday! I am looking forward to working with you and showing you everything that I have acquired over 15+ years of playing piano.

After 10 years of valuable teaching experience, I offer lessons to all ages/levels in piano, flute, voice, composition, song-writing, and music theory. I am a dedicated and passionate music educator with years teaching in every kind of setting-- from starting education programs with professional symphony orchestras in U.S. city schools, to being a Suzuki certified flute and piano teacher in Tanzania, to teaching flute to a class of 40 girls every week in the Middle East, I have gained life experience that has allowed me to grow to be an effective and enthusiastic music teacher. I love composing with my students and encouraging them to use their own voice and ideas in exploring and interpreting the music we explore.

The art I've created isn't just because of who I am, but because of where I've been. As I travel the globe, my experiences shape my music, inspire new projects, and fuel exciting cross-cultural collaborations. These experiences along with my passion to use music as a tool
