Opera is a complex 500 year-old artform. It is also really fun to sing. If you are a beginner, we will start building the rudiments of vocal technique. If you are advanced, we will build on specific elements of musical style, diction, delivery, and technique to make you into a complete singing actor.

Fantastic teacher. He has helped my daughter (high-schooler) immensely after only a few lessons. She has gained so much confidence, and thanks to Ian's tutelage, she succeeded in her audition for the school musical. Ian has a broad repertoire of music knowledge and experience, and even though we only have tapped him for broadway-style singing, it's clear he could help with so much more. He also has a laid-back yet professional personality and is very flexible with scheduling. If you are looking for a voice teacher, you should not pass up the opportunity to work with Ian.

Exceptional teacher - I took lessons from Ian and the results were impressive. His lessons showcased his impressive musical knowledge of, performance, technique, theory and history. I highly recommend Ian.

Ian is by far the best voice teacher whom I have ever had. He really listens to his student, which is the first and best pedagogical technique. With him, I have learned to sing repertoire ranging from musical theater to opera, and I know that every skill I learn from him is transferable to whatever I want to sing. By studying with Ian, I have made more progress in my technique and my artistry within a shorter amount of time than I ever have before. Moreover, I have enjoyed music more and more with every lesson. I highly recommend this teacher!

I have been taking lessons with Sammy for a month now. I am very green when it comes to singing and I am extremely self-conscious about my voice and had never really sung in front of anyone before. Sammy provided me with exactly what I was looking for, direct feedback. At the first lesson, he had me perform a vocal warm-up so that he could evaluate my instrument. We then discussed genres I like, and what goals I was trying to achieve. He then asked me to chose a song to sing and sing it. He identified things off the bat that I had not thought about and gave me exercises to help work on what we discussed. Week to week we built off of what we identified the previous week and I am seeing progress. He is good about explaining things if I don't understand the concept and he provides examples of what he is talking about. It's been a great experience and I highly recommend Sammy as an instructor.
Rachel G.
Very happy to have Sammy instructing my 10yo daughter in singing. Sammy has a good rapport with children but still keeps the singing class moving at a challenging pace
He is very organized and punctual as well!

"I am a retired professor. It is always my dream to be able to sing some day, but I was intimidated by the technical requirements involved in singing until I met Linda. She is a wonderful singing coach, knowledgeable, honest, patient, and inspiring at the same time. Not only she has amazing voice, but also has very good ear and can immediately tell whenever one is off tune or not. Linda combines rigorous demand for perfection with warm encouragement and repeated demonstration of how to improve. I am blessed that I had her as my coach. After having just taken a course on bel canto offered by her recently, I feel that I really have learnt enormously about breathing, resonance, vibration, Italian pronunciation, and several beautiful songs, among others. I most strongly recommend Linda without any reservation to any one who is thinking to learn how to sing."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
