About Massimo
My name is Massimo, I was born and I spent all my life in Italy since I moved, three year ago in US with my family for a new great adventure. I am so enthusiastic to be able to share with you the knowledge of the language of the greatest poets and writers, knowledge of one of the most beautiful country in the world, rich of history and art, and why not share "in Italian" some of the most terrific recipes for the most refined palate.

The classes in Italian cuisine are tailored to your interests and your skill level. I can teach you how to prepare a "quick win" dinner for all the family or to prepare "single size" amazing meals ready for all the week. I can teach how to make handmade pasta with semolina or with whole wheat. Have you ever tasted a terrific Tiramisu...with strawberries?

How I understand I can be a good Italian tutor,
patient, helpful and always ready to arouse the attention of my students? My youngest son, Vietnamese, is the best proof of my skill. He was able to speak a really good Italian in less than three months. Then I found to be "good" with adults as well. I started to teach Italian to some friends and after to friends of friends .... and it worked again!

Key word? Talk, watch, read, listen and talk again!
I am aware the Italian has one of the most complex grammars, but I also know that speaking and reading and watching Italian movies, soccer game or Television News makes automatic to learn the basic rules useful for a good conversation. We can use a really simple grammar book to support with the basic rules up to more advanced grammar books if we may need.

My tutoring approach is focus on student's weaknesses and strengths: use the seconds to correct the firsts. What it is important is to work on what you really like (movie, politics, receipts, actors, history, vacations, ...) and I promise it works. I already experienced this approach with a lot of students and friends who want to speak Italian and know Italy ...waiting for a great vacation "nel Bel Paese".
I try to be flexible with time and I offer makeup classes in case of 24 hours cancellation. I have an quite full equipped office at home but I am available to travel if it is more convenient for the students.
I hope see you soon.. A presto!!

We had a great time learning from Massimo. You can't learn the proper consistence of pasta dough from a book or video. We will be using all the techniques we learned. The marinara sauce he taught us to make was simple, but delicious. We will definitely call on Massimo again.

I owned my own deli and drop-off catering business for years. I have worked in high end Country Clubs, private schools and large corporations like Marriott and Sodexo. My food philosophy is food tastes best in its natural state and healthy food can be delicious. I am lucky to be able to express my artistic side in the creation of food and I am positive people can learn to eat well, happily. I love all the different classes and events I am able to create and teach as well as the food we get to enjoy doing so! It's so much fun to meet new people every day and watch them learn!

The class was a blast. My wife and I gave each other a gift to take a cooking class from Dave Hammer. The lessons weren't too complicated and even an old guy like me was able to do it. A great date night for any couple. Highly recommended.

About Peter
Hi, I'm Peter and I know a lot about food. More so than most people should, I'm a bit obsessed. My wife and friends have finally had enough of me going on and on about my food passion, so now I'm here to unburden them a bit by sharing it with you as well! I will not only teach you how to make recipes step by step (boring, but sometimes necessary), but I will also teach you flavor theory, technique, history, composition and other fundamentals to make you a better cook and gourmand. This can culminate in assignments to help you create your own recipes that I can help critique and edit. If you don't want or need the full experience, I can also simply help you on a one-off basis to put out interesting dishes for that ever important date, special occasion, or anytime meal.

About Vinit
I am a professional chemical engineer, born and brought up in India, graduated with PhD in chemical engineering from University of Delaware. Picked up cooking early on to satisfy my own deep desire of traditional home food be it dal baati, dal dhokali, dal dhokala, lahasuni aloo sang makka roti, kadi with bajara roti, kaju ker, pachkuta, rabori, mungodi (sorry for using traditional names as there is no real short translation of these into English language)...and did not realize that it had become my passion until my dear family/friends started pointing out repeatedly. Over time my research background has infused some serious curiosity to understand the underlying science behind the art of cooking (do you know what is the secret to delicious Indian food - is it the minimum overlap of flavors in ingredients!!) and have started rethinking th
e recipes e.g. try making bread pakoda (fritter) keeping bread in the inner core and potato paste on outside instead of traditional way of doing it other way round...does it taste better and easier to coat with the wet gram flour for frying??). Cooking for me has become an endless joyful journey filled with learning and experimentation...always refreshing. Now, I try to share/teach my cooking experiences/excursions with others as time permits.

About Hardik
Hi, my name is Hardik Shah, founder of Roadside Treats. I am Indian, born in Northridge California but raised in Mumbai (Bombay), the city that never sleeps.

Cooking has always been my passion. Since I was a little boy, I loved to cook, spending hours in the kitchen with my mother, making a mess but learning delicious traditional Indian recipes, using authentic seasonal, fresh ingredients and preparing everything from scratch. Today, I am still the same little boy who is in love with spending time in kitchen and experimenting with different tastes and textures. However, I am faithful to the authentic Indian traditions, flavors and ingredients.

I love cooking Indian food at home all the time and I find the process of creating a home cooked meal to be unwinding. For me food is not only nourishing but also comforting, loving, fun, an
d pleasurable.

About Roxanne
You may think this is interesting, but I am the owner of a home bakery. I sell baked goods from my home and deliver to my customers...

That's what I do during the day. In the evening, I love to teach young people how to cook. Actually, it doesn't matter how old you are; if you can handle cooking utensils, follow some helpful instruction and read a recipe, you got this!

I come from a family of cooks from way back in the day. I was taught, starting at age 6, how to cook in the kitchen and handle small knives. I had my own special knife for chopping and slicing vegetables and fruits. That's all she would allow me to do for a long while. Then, my mom slowly introduced me to new things, like boiling eggs and making gravy and homemade biscuits. Not much came from a box or can back then. I learned a lot about the foundation of making a wonderf
ul meal...prep work.

It sounds a bit off-putting, but if you invest in a few handy kitchen tools, prep can be pretty easy, and a little fun! That's part of what my students will learn in my classes.

I am a learner. I love to learn! If I'm not learning, I feel half alive. That's why I love cooking and baking. There is always something new to learn and see and do. It's hands-on, and that's my style of learning!

Many people can follow a recipe and cook a pretty good meal, but when it comes to looking into the fridge and the pantry and pulling something together, that's a whole different story. I love creating dishes that make my family wonder where I got the recipe from. When I say, "I just made it up!" That's a good feeling.

I not only want to teach students how to read a recipe and make a meal, I want to teach them some of the science behind cooking; why you should be careful when a recipe calls for salted or unsalted butter; or how to melt chocolate the old-fashioned way!

I'm very excited about taking this journey with each of my students. I love interacting with people and fostering a loving community.

So, come on, let's do this together!

Hi there! My name is Jackie from Jack in the Wild. I am a vegan chef & health coach with a huge heart for teaching! I started out my career coaching children with special needs and began diving into the correlation of nutrition and whole well-being.

Most of the children I worked with had dietary restrictions, so I began my path down that road to understand it on a deeper level. I have been a vegan for 11 years after my own weight loss & health journey, so the culinary world has been a passionate pursuit to helping others find their best selves through working in restaurants, personal cheffing, and health coaching.

I have experience in coaching, events, meal planning, holistic healing and so much more! Thanks so much for checking out my page and I look forward to the opportunity to talk to you about the food on YOUR plate!
