His stlye is very relevant and he keeps my daughter interested in learning by teaching her music she knows and hears on the radio and at home. I had an awesome first lesson with Matt he definitely exceeded my expectations. I paid for a 30min session and received an entire 1 1/2 hour info session full of valuable information. Matt is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the subject and I feel like I am learning from someone that not only can talk the talk, but also walk the walk. If our first session is any indication of how the rest of our sessions will go, then I will be signing up for more lessons.
He is informative thorough prompt and respectable. I could not have asked for a better instruct for my first time on take lessons. Thanks Matt and I look forward to our future lessons.

Matthew is a fantastic instructor and he has a lot of patients. I am a new drummer and he thought me and my two boys on how to drum and now after about a year we can actually enjoy drumming and we are having a blast. My older has special needs and I am so impressed that he will actually come and play the drums on his own now which would have never happened without Matthews teaching. My younger boy is doing so well too. We will continue to take lesson even with our busy schedules since we really enjoy our lessons with Matthew. Thank you Matthew.

Michael is a wonderful teacher who is very open to whatever you want to work on. My daughter thinks he is "funny and nice" so clearly she is having a fun time while she is learning. He is relaxed and patient with her energy and very supportive of her learning all aspects of music. She looks forward to her lessons every week and has learned more than I could imagine. I would highly recommend him.

Jesse S.

Bothell, WA

I teach beginner all the way advanced students who are looking to improve as musicians or learn the guitar from square one. What's most important to me as a teacher is helping you achieve your goals in music. I have great ear training experience as a jazz musician and I can help students learn music they hear on recordings. My specialty is teaching improvisation on the guitar as well as teaching beginning students, which is a HUGE part of playing the guitar today with the exception of classical guitar.

About Jesse

My name is Jesse Sullivan and I am a guitarist who lives in Seattle, WA. I graduated from the University of Southern California with Cum Laude Honors in 2015. I maintain a busy schedule or performances accompanying jazz singers in the area and I am on faculty at Cornish College of the Arts as an accompanist in the jazz voice department.

I began teaching beginning guitar lessons to friends and classmates in high school. Ever since I picked up the guitar, I knew it was something that I wanted to pursue professionally because of the joy that it brought me. Being able to share that with other p
eople is something I am very passionate about. I continued teaching beginning guitar and advanced jazz harmony to other guitarists in the music program to help pay tuition in college at USC. I taught at Music and Arts in Redmond during the summer after finishing college before moving to the Bothell store within the same organization. I also began teaching at the Andrew White School of Music around the same time. I teach beginners on both guitar and bass as well as jazz improvisation on guitar.

Jazz is a style of music I specialize in and I teach it like teaching a language as I firmly believe that jazz is a language. I teach improvisation to not only guitar, but to all instruments as the concepts are the same. Improvisation lessons are fun and interactive and challenge you to be creative, which is what art is all about!

My teaching method is very flexible, as I am very aware that students learning styles and goals vary greatly. I am a patient teacher who will work to help put a student in a position to be successful and achieve his or her goals through lesson plans and teaching methods tailored to meet the student's learning style. Seeing students succeed and have fun making progress and improving as a musician brings me a lot of joy! There is nothing more frustrating than feeling like you're treading water trying to teach yourself. My goal is to make the learning process as fun as possible! Having an experienced teacher will help you grow as a musician at a faster rate!
