There are many websites that will tell you instructors don't like teaching adults, but Elisa was a wonderful and patient instructor for all ages. She is able to adjust her approach to accommodate all age groups and skill levels. It's important to let Elisa know what your goals are so she can mold the lessons to help accomplish your goals. Elisa also arranges group rehearsals and recitals to broaden the students abilities in group settings (optional).
Sarah C. Portland, OR

About Sarah

I teach vocal technique to recording artists, singers interested in starting or joining bands, people looking to do musical theater, do some opera, and anyone who just wants to sound great around the campfire. My students learn how to embellish the things they like about their voices and make them sound unique, while at the same time defeating tension and poor vocal technique. I also work on shaping the whole performer, from stage presence to microphone control. My instrumental students work on both classical and modern music. If you are interested in learning how to read music, chords, charts, compose or just learn some basics I am happy to help you with that. Optional recitals are held two times a year. I have a Bachelors of Music, Vocal Performance at the University

Solid Fundamentals, Spiced with Laughter

Sarah's approach to teaching voice--from a classical background of good form and breath control--instills confidence and forms a solid basis for wherever you want to go. Add to that her great good humor, and every class is a pleasure.

My Dad is my role model, since he was a calm, patient tutor for me - I try to live up to his example in my own teaching work. I like to work with my students in a learning partnership, letting them work at their own pace with ...

If you are looking for a piano teacher for your child, we highly recommend Karen for her musical skills and, moreover, her ability to engage people of all ages and tendencies. We have three children, two boys (15 and 12) and one 8 year old girl, with completely different personalities (and levels of motivation) that took lessons with Karen. She expertly handled their quirks and abilities and managed to find what would interest each. The confidence boost they were given by having the opportunity to perform their pieces was a huge bonus. From a paying and coordinating parent's perspective, you could not find a more reasonably priced and yet utterly accommodating private instructor. She's awesome!

Nick D. Tualatin, OR

About Nick

***About Me*** Music is almost more than a passion for me, it's how I hear the world! That guy singing the harmony to the crosswalk jingle? That's me. Though my love for music began long before I ever picked up an instrument, I began taking guitar lessons at age 10. By age 12 I was writing music and by 13 I played my music at my first talent show with my band. In high school I started studying piano and voice, and performed with the Guitar Program, Jazz Ensemble and Men's Choir. I played solo and with multiple bands, playing rock, acoustic, jazz, rock, metal and classical guitar. After High School I spent a year studying music at University of Oregon. Though I enjoyed my time at U of O, I left the next year and moved to Boston to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, ...

My 9 year old told me Nick is the best piano teacher ever. He loves going to his lessons and is progressing nicely I think. When my son goes off on a tangent or wants to talk about the billion things going on in his head at the moment, Nick is super patient and gently steers him back on track.
